Thread regarding Sam's Club layoffs

Is that common?

I wonder if it's common for retailers to cut hours after Christmas? I'm very anxious after hearing that Sam's will most likely cut hours. In that case, I will definitely have to leave.

Yes, they always cut hours right after the holidays. We have slowed down considerably this week already. Totally understand the need to cut hours when things are slow. It’ll pick back up, usually only lasts a couple months after Christmas.

If your club area is as understaffed as ours is, I doubt you notice any cut hours.

Usually just January and February. After that hours should go back to normal. Same for the last 20 years I’ve been at Sam’s. Just spend the extra time with family and friends.

@zcx is absolutely correct. Retailers always cut hours after Christmas and continue to do so through January and February.

Yes. Retailers often cut hours after Christmas. Things slow down. But will pick up later.
