Vaccine Requirements for Contractors and vendors

What a joke ! So vz employees are required to upload vaccine status by Jan 4 or be subjected to no pay leave. Meanwhile I spoke with our cleaning person who doesn’t wear a mask or even do a good job cleaning our building and she remarked today she is not getting the vax. So my question is why is ok to hire vendors that do not wear masks and are anti vax but us employees must get the vax? So it’s ok to have a vendor come here coughing all over? Other question is why are all facilities still not adopting work from home or hybrid flexible scheduling? Asking for a friend of course. Who’s hiring?

Why are you whining about the people that scrub the toilets you pi-s in. Wow how entitled. Did you not forget every person you come in contact with isn't vax, like the customers whom phones we touch all day. Perhaps the Cleaning crew at your local grocery store isn't vax. Maybe the produce guy that's touching your fruits and vegetables isn't vax. You my friend is lost is the sauce and clearly miserable.

Great to have a strong union cowering down to Verizon. As long as there’s money at the end of the Democrats money tree rainbow they’ll be concerned about their financial health and not give a damn about yours. Keep voting for the party of the middle class. The Big guys 10% is counting on it.

According to the FAQs, contractors and vendors are required to be vaccinated by 1/1. Perhaps that date shifted when the injunctions were put into place, but I know that contracting vendors were asking their employees to upload vax status back in November.

The unions will never work from home because the unions are ignorant to technologies. They are still stuck in the punch your time card and assembly line mentality. Whether outside or inside, if you can’t physically touch it, you don’t have a job. Meanwhile 99 percent of what a company like verizon does, CAN and should be done remotely from anywhere in the world. With the exception of the physical aspect of the job ie fixing cables, field dispatch, everything else can be done from home. Garages are useless and CO, field and system techs are useless just sitting around a VZ facility. But hey My Union says I need to clock in and clock out. SMH

That would be false. Union is required to submit vax status. No vax status, no pay. Company wants to know where everyone stands whether vaccinated or not. Of no vax status is submitted after 60 days of unpaid leave, employee is terminated. That is directly from the union.

The vaccine status rule doesn’t apply to everyone. Union doesn’t have to do it at all.

All these complaints is like beating a dead horse! Nothing will change conform or leave!

The post is a valid concern. I would be embarrassed demanding vaccine from employees but not for contractors. Btw I am totally for vaccines, I think everyone should get one. But it’s kinda ironic when the people you have cleaning the building are not getting it or actually cleaning the building. That’s just bad business practices. They are hiring people to clean and they are actually making it more unclean.

Verizon leadership has been completely wrong from the start not to mention the HR President left the company because this leadership has no clue. All this leadership does is say ya ya 5 gee is great everything is great.

But like the other poster said if you don’t like it quit. If not just keep cashing your paycheck like the rest of us lol. I dodged another rif this past November hopefully I can steal a paycheck till the next one.

@1wie+1eviJpil It’s pretty clear the union doesn’t care about their members. Look at all the people who want work from home and the union blocks it.

On something different, I’m permanently working at home now. As most of us will be, I don’t understand why non-union is complaining, we have it great. Hybrid, wfh, and some people who want to go back.

Serious question. How miserable are some of you Union lackies ? What makes you think that your union wields any power now? They do not. You will see this in 2023. This is not 1989 when everything was run over a landline. At some point I suggest you stop bragging how little work you do and take a little pride in the work you do.WFH is great. Absence % are so low. I'm sure the day you are told to go back, many will bang-in. Smile your union loves you and cares for you!

It's cute that you think this has anything to do with health, or protecting the employees, or whatever altruistic delusion you're operating under.
It's good to know people like you still exist. Such naivete is refreshing.

The federal mandate would not apply to Verizon's subcontractors. But Verizon absolutely could require any subcontractor staff coming into their buildings be vaccinated. It's lazy leadership that this hasn't been addressed.

If you dont like it quit! Stop worrying about everyone else and either get the vax or give up your good paying job. Stop crying and acting like a 10 year old.

BS that does not include cleaning services apparently, and that does not include contractors… only employees. VZ has zero control on how other companies handle vaccine requirements

You already said the answer "All contractors must be vaccinated"

Janitorial services are a subcontractor of Verizon and not with the Feds directly, as such unless the feds say contractor and ANY of their affiliate subcontractors need to be vaccinated, which is not the case.

Start believing !!

I dont believe you! All contractors must be vaccinated and doubt Verizon would allow Companies to be on our property unvaxed.

“Other question is why are all facilities still not adopting work from home” , to be blunt. It isn’t gonna happen. RTO is February 5 for my call center. I’ve enjoyed my time home but now it’s time for the office.
