My colleagues are mostly leaving because of higher pay, however, I would be happy to work for less just not to be under so much stress. The amount of work and the pressure have become unbearable. I have to leave.
I don't need childish advice to leave and go to Lowe's or Walmart, but I wonder if our competition burdens employees at least a little less or if I would face the same problem there as well?

This dump pays less than Walmart on average there are so many jobs right now everyone should just quit all at once and leave them with 0 employees and then they might not exist anymore which is good they are a stain on society!
Unfortunately, some companies resort to this tactic with salaried employees. They will just dump more and more work on people to see how much work they can extract from you. They can very much afford to hire more people, but profits come before people at a lot of companies.
I agree. I left BNY for the same reason.. Too much stress !! The more work you do the more you are given. You can never work enough hours to get ahead of the work. Management talks about hiring more resources but it's always to be too little to late.
Unfortunately the view seems to be "a lack of resources isn't a problem until there's a problem"
what's wrong with lowes or walmart? people can find happiness anywhere. maybe banking isnt for you then.
I can't wait to have this same conversation with you next year
I left JPM after a short stint 15 years ago. Force ranking of employees, sending the lower 10% out the door, instructed to fire 4 or 5 people in just a few months. Very toxic.
I feel like we are getting to that point.
Good luck in your search. No one deserves to feel miserable all of the time.
Lots of companies will push their employees as much as they can. But few are as bad as BK about stingy raises, stalking employees to downsize and forcing their employees to listen to woke garbage at their town halls.
Even if you leave for another company, you will feel relief. Is the next company just as bad? We don't know, but you have to go there to find out. If not you may be missing a big opportunity. No one deserves to be miserable in their jobs. If it's no longer a good fit for you, change it, and hope for the best! Good luck!
