Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

Stupid feeling

ATT makes hard workers feel stupid for working hard, because those who do nothing do better here. For all my hard work I have been rewarded with more work and that’s it. A colleague who does almost nothing is paid better, always in a great mood, and has time to devote to all private matters. I, on the other hand, have become a person who just works all the time, who is constantly tired, etc. It seems to me that everyone is slowly realizing that the d-mbest thing you can try here is to achieve something with hard work?

So sorry to hear these company men management posting replies on here saying the company owes you nothing other than a paycheck! Well a good company is loyal to his employees and customers not like the tea that’s what you fail to realize they don’t care about anybody other than the mighty dollar! so please get back under stinky’s desk and keep him happy!

I’m waiting for my severance package and really hope it comes in Q1, 22! That would be the perfect way to end my tenure with T and I’d be more than happy to make room for someone else! I’ve lost my passion for my work, but I’ll be all too happy to keep collecting those easy come paychecks if the layoff doesn’t come!

Since this is a site to post about layoffs, it would be awesome if you got laid off for being a whiner and disgruntled.

Time for Stankey and Santone to cut 110K employees. The sooner, the better.

When will you begin to take responsibility for your own life instead of blaming a business who has employed you for a certain period of time? You’re nothing more than any other ‘contracted’ worker. When the business needs rebalancing, when profits are less than forecasted, when technology improves, when a multitude of other things change…...your ‘contract’ expires. Period. And T is no different than the millions of other businesses. They owe you nothing other than the last paycheck you received. Nothing. So GTFU. You’re not special and T is not your daddy or mama.
The whining here is disturbing and irritating!

T has 3 pay levels for first lines and I was the middle level 1b. Back in the day - a 1a earned $24k and a 1b earned $18k while a 1c made $13k.
I could complete my work for the week in about 5 hours so I decided to take on extra responsibilities. I started taking on some of the second level 2a work. The top second levels earned about $36k and they were more than happy to let me help them. I made the mistake of thinking that showing the 3rd level I was capable would set me on a promotion path. NO, it set me on the path of why promote a lower paid employee when I'd do the work and allowed the 2nd levels more time to read their newspapers. One day my District/3rd level calls me into his office and informs me that a 3rd level was just downgraded to 2nd level and I needed to train her. So I remarked, let me understand this. I trained myself and am taking on additional work to show I can do it?
I make about $18k and you want me to train a busted 3rd level who carries his previous pay of about $48k? Give me a raise to $24k and I'll continue working my AZZ off and I'll train your minority quota, otherwise, in the future - I think I'll work like the other 5 females in my position and just work my job title. Well, we are not promoting males and your job title only allows pay of $18k.
On that day, I became a $18k 1b employee, the 2a employees had to go back to work and the busted 3a to 2a minority female employee was given a decision making leave because she couldn't do the work. She was fired.
Moral of story. Just do what your paid for, don't take on extra responsibilities because you will be abused, held back and not paid what your worth. Why pay and promote WASP Males when you'll do it for free?

This company and its fake union reward mediocrity. If you are better than that, there are better opportunities elsewhere.

Sounds like it's time for you to seek employment elsewhere. You either don't work efficiently or effectively or you're just slow and too meticulous! It's not worth it especially since T no longer wants career employees and reduced benefits. There are plenty of jobs out there!

Everyone must know that the Union does one thing very well : promote and encourage mediocre performance. So a work ethic is a curse. Good luck.
