Ford Vaccine Mandate Deadline Pushed Back To January 2022

According to numerous online sources, Ford's requirement to be vaccinated by January 4th is still in effect. Those who do not comply could possibly receive 30 days of unpaid leave with job protection followed by termination if they do not comply or have approved exemption.

For those of you who have not complied, have you been contacted by Ford yet?

To the poster who asked how many resisting the vax - It numbers in the thousands . A friend that submitted an accommodation got an email back saying they did not have to do anything else at this time even if they had not heard back from the company by 1/4/23 - and that was back in the first week of December.

Rumor is the number of accommodations submitted could be well over 4,000…I highly doubt they could get rid of all those people in one fell swoop, especially if they are the technical areas most needed. They can’t even hire enough technical people now as it is - co-op kids have just graduated college that are software engineers are not taking Ford’s offers and they are asking for over 150k a year (which they can get from other firms). Ford is in a pickle right now when it comes to certain employees skill sets needed to drive the future plans, so the fully vaxed crowd is going to be mightily disappointed when not as many as fired as the want….and they are let go instead.

Right on there, it's going to be a lot of pain and suffering when the "old school" positions are cut to save money and the focus is shifted to jobs associated with "revenue generating data". The least risky places to be right now will be in GDIA and Cloud Platform support.... but no place will be safe

I'm not privy to inside information to be able to confirm, but I definitely believe @1ogl is correct. Now that the excessively high inflation is no longer being falsely declared as "transitory" we're going to see the purchasing power of the middle & lower classes decrease and they'll be putting off vehicle purchases as long as possible. The upper-middle & upper classes will be placing their money into assets that won't depreciate and lose value, which means they will also be purchasing fewer vehicles.

What will really irritate people is the departments impacted. It will be the old businesses targeted. They aren't touching software development. That's where the future lays. To complete with Tesla you have to have software. The old way of designing vehicles is dying. And the automotive engineers will suffer the most.

So much for Farley being a car guy!

They aren't rumors. Cuts are coming..... To the vaxxed and unvaxxed alike. It will be interesting to see you all united despite vax status when they happens. 2019 was but a test run.

My status is none of their fine business and I have reminded my management of such during our weekly talks. Since I'm not trying to climb the management ladder here all the way up to at least LL4 working at Ford is just a job and not a career. Compromising my principles for a job is foolish, especially when even if I do so there's no guarantee I wouldn't still get laid off during the next round of cuts. (Which rumors say may be coming in the first half of the year.)

I got an email last week. It was confidential so I won't say what it said. That said, I have an interview with GM the first week of January. They are being much more measured in their approach to the mandate than is Ford.

It does not matter what other online sources say. The only website Ford employees need to be concerned with is Ford's internal website which still say Game On for most employees. If you are one of those employees and have not been vaccinated or applied for an exemption, expect a 30 day unpaid vacation which will lead to termination for cause.

If you have a problem with UAW exclusion, inclusion of remote workers, or the principle of the whole thing, know that it is still happening. Vent away. Threaten to quit. Vow to never buy a Ford. Whatever. The requirement is still in place and job loss is not an empty threat.

Virtually everyone will be returning to office. I have been told there is no way in h3ll they are going to build this new campus - even scaled down without filling it.

If you do not return there will be consequences - eventually.

I haven’t received anything since the one about the voluntary survey a few weeks ago. On another site someone who submitted an exemption request was told business as usual pending review and “ external events”

They would be a lot more convincing if hourly was also mandated. It’s just a case of “ because we can” with salaried employees. Im OK with going back with no mandate, OK with leaving if there is.

Their end of year message had a paragraph about us being a valuable asset and thanking us for our sacrifices in coming to work each day !

I got a reminder email last week from "activity" that I still have ignored their mandate/order of submitting an exception or proof of vax. For the status survey a while back, I just lied and said I would submit an exception, which I have no intent on doing.

I'm looking forward to my 30 day sabbatical. Lots of things planned!

Doesn't Ford want to protect the UAW who are actually building the new EV products?

This is all Chris' cousin and Billy trying to prove how woke they are. Biden moves his hand, these two puppets leap into action. Even Ford's year-end video prominently featured the fake president and other Democrats. Sickening.

The urgency is driven by trying to show the Biden administration that they have a lap dog, in that we will gladly take $$ for EV work / retooling of plants in exchange for delivering a fully vaccinated workforce. Don't be fooled, Care for Each Other, is yet another hollow Ford Promise.

In terms of providing an update on the mandate, whether vaccinated or not, we should all want transparency from FMC. Seeing as how very few seem to know what is going on, I would think that is an issue - shouldn't everyone in the company be aware of the plan? Again, Ford does a lot of talk about Trust, but doesn't actually walk the talk.

I have the vaccine. But where I have issues with this mandate

  1. We work from home. So why the urgency? There is no reason other than a build, testing, sign-off. No reason to go in when you have WEB X.
  2. The UAW is not listed. This is funny since they are required to work onsite.

In the fall of 2020, we had 2-3 VPs tell us we were not coming back and that we will not be forced to come in. Complete BS.
