Does it actually matter why? Is it any of your concern, Peon?

I worked Guyana for 4 years. None in our group had experience. It was the blind leading the blind, making it up as you go, or pretend it was just like Angola.
Plus upper management had this fantasy of how fast things should go. They even press released reserve adds before the technical team had vetted the numbers.
They rushed to place the worst facility over the best resource.
Now that the flaring at Liza has become an embarrassment emblematic of this sh!t show, I’m so glad I’ve moved on.
The best and brightest from other groups will only be suitable to take pictures for the LinkedIn posts of Mikey and Linda Bot.

I joined this group thinking that the “best and brightest” would be working it. I have been so underwhelmed with the cluelessness of the people who work Guyana. Definitely a stop for the HiPo’s to punch their ticket. I honestly don’t believe we know how to produce oil and gas anymore.

I suspect that people are discovering that developing new fields with planning multi wells for years is hard work and time intensive and stressful. It has been decades since we had anything the size and timeline of Guyana. PowerPoint jockies don't know how to do the work or don't want to do the work. Few that do are probably burnt out pretty quickly.

Because HiPo's have to punch their ticket.

So much winning.
Dumping these heroes to low carbon “solutions” and Guyana is a pro move by our visionary leaders.
Spread the bluster and ignorance around.
