Thread regarding Citigroup Inc. / Citibank / Citi layoffs

This is your average workplace

I don't know what you people expect but if you think Citi is a horrible, terrible, awful work environment then you're in for a major and not-so-pleasant surprise when you leave. Nearly all the banks have the same issues to a varying degree. If you're expecting to find someplace where everything is roses, you'll be looking for a long time.

To original poster: You sound like that the financial institution is the only place a person can find a job which is ridiculous. As crazy as it may sound other companies also hire programmers, technicians, bean counters, analyst, program managers, operations managers, security, governance etc…..

If you don’t generate money for the company then they are more generous with the stick than they are with the carrot. If you are in a role that just keeps the lights on, get used to the stick. This should be obvious by now.

To the original poster, you stated you don’t know what you people expect etc…

I think what most people expect is that if they are expected to work the hours of two jobs that they should get the equivalent pay of two jobs. Instead though Citi promotes scare tactics of the threat of layoffs or original posts like this one to convince people that there are absolutely no other option but to just take it. So now, you have mass exodus like never before which in turn just piles that work onto someone else’s plate and the problem gets worse all for little to no raise. So yeah, comp is a firm specific issue. It’s impossible to reward people accordingly when you lose 500 million and spend what little you do have on renovations on the London office but hey….got to have priorities. Just crack the whip harder, that’ll do it.

And the hits just keep on coming.

Agreed with the post creator. This is average work place. Just like this is average:

Citi does that all the time. I get so tired of Citi giving out stock bonus’s like the other banks do. It gets old.

Too bad the banking industry is the only sector that’s hiring. There’s no other sector that’s hiring anybody else at all. You can only ever be employed by the banks, there’s no use to even look.

The firm is so big, most issues are team dependent. But stuff like comp is absolutely a firm specific issue
