Pay Increases relative to Cost of Living

The new year will usher in bigger Social Security checks for many beneficiaries starting this month. That's as a record 5.9% cost-of-living adjustment, or COLA, takes effect.
1-3% for a merit increase seems awfully stingy…

Hey if they want to give 1% increases that's exactly the effort they're going see, they'll get what they pay for.

Favoritism rules. Same high level of work for different manager and significant drop in merit increase. Hmm, what's changed?

Wage disparity in America is real evident in this forum.

@vat+1f1fZk8Y minimum wage is part of why our system experiences higher prices. How do you think employers can afford to pay their workers more all of the sudden? Yes, by raising prices to the public. Politicians who propose minimum wage increases generally understand it is nonsense.

Wells Fargo is really just like any other pyramid scheme when you think about it. The people on the bottom work to enrich the narrowing rungs above them. Our CEO literally makes 300 times more than his lowest paid employee/team member/cult member. Honestly if that doesn’t make us a cult, and Charlie a cult leader, I don’t know what does?🤷🏻

My merit is a few whole numbers into double-digits. I'm completely blown away as I expected the same fate as last year.

Multiple peers got no merit, not sure on their bonus.

Yes, it sucks that it's spread to sparsely, but that's America's brand of capitalism and that's what we're stuck with for now. Don't like it? Get a bunch of people to do something about it.

That's because it is stingy. We're all basically taking a pay cut so that's someone can buy a second yacht.

Good discussion here and also on another thread where I’m seeing some wise comments.

Minimum wage 27/hour would be a good start.

Work harder this year, get a better merit increase and higher bonus.

It's not a charity.
