Thread regarding ExxonMobil Corp. layoffs

Looks like EM is willing to hire anyone at this point, even incompetent ones

Looks like attrition is not going to slow down anytime soon.

My friend who is still with EM told me they are willing to hire anyone at this point to backfill the leavers and knows some EMIT contractors that just joined/will be joining, most of them are incompetent, like basic level of English and basic technical skills.

EM is now paying more $$$ for incompetent contractors than retaining its own employees aka hotshots.

Karma is real, at least for this kind of situation.

People who think the university they went to determines their abilities are naive.

Yes, we stopped getting the bottom of the barrel (aka LSU, Texas A&M, UT, BY) and now are turning the barrel over to get “engineers” from real sh!th0les like Prarie View A&M, Texas Tech, and New Mexico State. It went from bad to really really bad. We are willing to hire anyone, pitiful indeed!

@bbq+1f4b8qzm 100% agree, going to a top school alone doesn’t make someone a quality employee. However, when no students from top schools are willing to come to the company, we should probably be asking why.

Employable skills are more important and completely different, it does not matter someone went to top schools or low tiered schools. Associate degree is good too if there is a sense of purpose, pride, integrity and work ethics. We know from recent events anyone can get into top colleges using their leverage and spooned opportunities. Someone needs to be from top schools to be innovative and no. 1 in business is a fallacy that is pushed. Top schools needs top money and privelges to go and not everyone can afford.

It's been happening for a while. When I hired in back in 2014, my new hire class was largely made of people from schools like MIT, UC Berkeley, UT Austin, and CMU. I got involved with recruiting and in the last 2-3 years we pretty much stopped trying to convince kids from top-10 programs to accept offers, and are now even getting turned down by Texas Tech students.

In Buenos Aires they have massive hiring campaigns ongoing, are begging current employees for referrals and are even paying a referral bonus to people who goat rope anybody off the street into hiring on. I'm sure all of these folks are the brightest. Many new hires have never even been to the office or met their boss. How great could the interview process have been?
