Typical Cisco Mess-If you decrease Revenue and BS everyone until your stock is fully vested, you get to walk away with $100M+ after 48 months

The amount of Gerri worship on LI is hard to handle.

Less worship and more suck-up. As if these people mean anything to her whatsoever. They keep tryin', though, to lick up a little of her foot-sweat.

Like Maria Martinez, both of their claims to fame were to cut headcount and reorg. I remember MM's first move a few weeks into the job was changing everything to "CX" from "TS". I mean, literally shuffling the deckchairs on the Titanic. You could have given me Millions to rename an org to a stupid name that sounds like s-e-x.

chuckie boy was a disaster from the onset. JC should have been canned a couple of years before he left. MM should never have been hired. She has ran off the better management and refuses to take suggestions or opinions from anyone - she fires them instead. It's her turn to be on the other end of the firing. Unfortunately, the will promote her and bring in another incompetent diversity hire. What a woke cr-p ho-e it has turned into.

To be fair to Gerri, at her first GSX she set out her stall and stated that she would be here three or four years only.

I’m no fanboy/girl but, of all Chuck’s hires, I have to say that I think Gerri has been most successful in terms of understanding some of the challenges in sales and trying to fix them.

She also recognised the problems associated with the transition from hardware sales to subscription services and, although I don’t think some of her changes have gone far (or fast) enough, I think we are in a better position now than when she joined. The biggest single problem is a sales force conditioned to sell boxes not solutions. COVID should have been an opportunity to take risk and make big changes. That opportunity has been missed.

V2MOMMA on the other hand…

So you mean that she qualifies for Social Security? That explains it all.

Bring “GSX” back; let “Impact” retire like Gerri. What is LC up to these days? 😍

Anyone who knows the business and tracks the results of customers and competitors knew that Gerri Elliott was the wrong person to hire for this essential position. And when she was hired, the existing Sales SVP had no idea he was being replaced. Just like when Maria Martinez was hired to replaced Cozzolino who led Services. And look where Services is today after the Customer Experience tract began.

I heard some speculate that she wasn't okay with the vax mandate so she left... I wonder if that's true.

According to LinkedIn, she made the "difficult decision to retire".

After making $100M in 4 yrs, I could easily retire. Wouldn't be a difficult decision for me.

Chuck already knows how this ends. He's going to continue to hang on for as long as he can to pick up that big paycheck.

This is true of many/most CxO's. I got suckered into joining a private company that was doing well in a particular market that was planning to go public. I joined, 3 mo later I got my stock options, and less than 6 mo later the new leadership (CEO, CTO, CFO) decided to sell off the parts of the business that was what made the company successful and tried to move the company into being a business-to-business (B2B) service provider with no service to sell. When the company got delisted from the stock exchange, I quit and took another job with a new company and watched as the company shed people and skills. It took less than another year before the exec's laid everyone off, locked the doors, and rented a 4 office suite w/ a front desk so that the 4 execs could share an executive assistant and draw a pay check until the company went bankrupt. By letting everyone go with 2 wks severance and selling off the buildings and renting their little suite, they were able to draw a paycheck for another year before the money ran out.

I've never understood how executives, and coaches, can do poorly, get fired and get to walk away with huge amounts of money (golden parachute/contract) just to get hired by another company/team just to do it all over again. How do I get a job that will pay me millions to fail? I can fail spectacularly at their job.

She was paid $100 million to conduct reorgs & pay cuts. Just like MM was also hired to cut costs.

Once it was decided to fire Gerri, an executive search firm was hired to recruit her replacement from AWS, Microsoft, or Google that would lead sales initially and then become the CEO next fiscal year
No interest from anyone, but search for new CEO from outside to replace Chuck from outside is still underway
Thus, a*s kissa Jeff got tapped on the shoulder until new CEO arrives and cleans house

"How she made it to CSCO is astounding, but I guess we can write it off to D&I."

Or CR likes to surround himself with people that don't challenge him. There was NO WAY she was competing for the CEO position. Ideal hire to lead sales & marketing, while ensuring CR's job security.

I was at JNPR when Gerri was there as a part of the gang that came from MS. I heard her talk at a company meeting. The only talk that I can remember that was more filled with bull was when Carly F. spoke at LU. How she made it to CSCO is astounding, but I guess we can write it off to D&I.

The company is running on fumes and most employees' goodwill gone with the constant shifts and changes in focus and lack of a single, coherent technical strategy. I am in my mid-fifties and going for early retirement so I no longer care since this gig works for me. If I were a younger employee though I would have got the he-l out. Cisco is a legacy company being out-sold on most fronts and only financial smoke and mirrors is disguising that fact - for now.

He's happy to see employees stick around and help him pick up the big payout, but, if you ask him, he'd tell you to make the best decision for you and your family. Please ensure you're thinking for yourself and not just frozen by inaction.

The ship is sinking. The people at this level couldn't care less as they get paid no matter how many customers are lost or employees laid off.

If you're an employee that needs a long-term career to take care of yourself and your family, get out now.

Meanwhile Chuck is seen in LA luxury suite this past Sunday with his family enjoying an NFL football playoff game compliments of Cisco stockholder's money
What happened to entertaining customers to try and win business instead of making it so easy for AWS, Microsoft, etc to replace Cisco?

How often have we seen this same story rinse and repeat... At some point the board (and shareholders) need to ask some serious questions of this leadership.
