Thread regarding Cisco Systems Inc. layoffs

Shocking Real Cisco HR email from data disclosure.

I came across this. It’s Cisco HR in the UK
The email was provided using a data disclosure request.

It concerns an employee who had made a complaint against an exec. Some points to remember, Cisco claim to be ethical, zero tolerance to any form of discrimination, no revenge attacks.

Long email summarised by HR as follows.

“Not entering into the details once ( the employee) is back from LOA (leave of absence) the business want to LR ( limited restructuring), ( the employee) ( not sure this will not drive us to court with resignation refused. LOA promised and refused then accepted because of HR case against leader. And then termination. ???)

4 days prior to the above email and without employee knowledge the leader had emailed HR saying the employees emotional state was of concern and they should seek out counselling services provided by Cisco.

The employee was fine had an excellent track record and no disciplinary issue.

Cisco were asked to provide the reasoning behind the request to LR the employee. Even though Chuck Robbins has stated privacy is a basic human right and that Cisco state they are transparent with personal information. Cisco lied about having such data then after legal avenue time frames were exhausted stated the data existed but was protected by legal privilege. Why lie and then hide the information?

Judge for yourselves about Cisco and their HR team. I’m not a Cisco employee but once I saw the comments here and as entertaining as it is, there is a serious side. You can judge.

With specific focus on the MP’s involvement. Due to the Harvey Weinstein case, the UK government created a sub committee to investigate companies miss using NDA’s.

I submitted evidence concerning my experience with Cisco to the committee via my MP. The evidence was accepted..

Why was it accepted? The executive officer stated I should seek counselling, without my knowledge. The exec also said on multiple occasions he was concerned about my mental state and wanted security outside meeting rooms. HR also put security on speed dial. This was during a legal procedure that should show no bias.

Cisco have not provided a single shred of evidence to support the execs accusations.

Indeed the evidence shows I was more than co operative. No one else in Cisco made any comment, only the exec I complained to HR about.

When I left Cisco invoked restrictive covenants stating they want to view all of my job applications. They put me and my family under intense pressure. I may fight this in court and get the NDA but to be honest I think the truth will come out anyway.

Really disgraceful behaviour by Cisco HR

Apologies on the response below. It was written on the phone in a rush.

There is a lot missing and this forum is hard to present the evidence because I cannot attach the emails. However with specific focus on the MP’s involvement. Due to the Harvey Weinstein a sub committee looked into companies miss using NDA’s. There is far more than this however as stated the manager has stated without my knowledge to HR that my emotional state meant I should seek counselling. Then the email without my knowledge me or wanting to LR me. When I returned I was LR’d without my knowledge the manager was claiming I was intent on harming him and Cisco he said he was so concerned about my mental health he wanted security outside the door. I knew none of this and was assisting Cisco with a potential handover and to my face the manager thanked me and also sent a Facebook friend request. During the appeal I was accused of being aggressive yet at my final interview and witnessed and documented by the employee rep I was told I would be a good leaver. I asked for evidence about the accusations cisco said it was verbal there was no data. Why did my MP get involved. Discrimination and mental health. Cisco had identified me as vulnerable without my knowledge and covered it up. Miss use of NDA. Cisco classed the execs. Behaviour as normal and professional. There was more but primarily that is why the MP is involved.the evidence against Cisco may come out during the next employment law debate

Much clearer, thank you. What happened to you is appalling. It's pure hypocrisy with the intention to cover one's tracks. Now the moment you wrote that you complained about the exec and exposed his questionable accounting practices, I knew the writing was on the wall for you. Execs have big egos. You bruised that ego, so he or she made it a mission to take you down for that. You should have emailed the ethics committee and asked if what you observed is legal. No names at this point, just asking a question. Then let them take over. Sorry this happened to you, it just isn't right.

Sorry if the Grammer is not great but I’ll summarise

  1. LOA promised
  2. Exec cancelled LOA at the last minute
  3. I complained about the exec. In addition I had also complained of my concern that a large unapproved bid was being submitted.
  4. LOA granted
  5. Awarded sales champion for second successive year.

The following events occurred without my knowledge and were revealed through a data request emails.

  1. the exec raises concerns over my emotional condition and suggests I seek counselling.
  2. . The exec requests that I am fired on my return from LOA
  3. HR discuss the legal merits
  4. Cisco claim that the data explaining why the exec wanted to fire me does not exist.
  5. A year later and in response to concern from a member of Parliament over the smokescreen of mental health Cisco state the data does exist but it is protected by legal privilege.
  6. I was fired on my return from LOA and lots of nasty accusations were made which Cisco have yet to provide a single shred of evidence to support. The only statement they have made is that there was no data it was all verbal.

I hope that is clearer, if you would like the emails so you can check the ones I’ve mentioned and others claiming I was obviously intent to harm Cisco and the exec then please let me know. I can even send you the Facebook friend request he sent at the same time he was making all the accusations behind my back.

Re “ To the OP who said publish. Please contact Cisco legal and Cisco HR. If they agree then yep I’m sure the ex employee will publish.” Do not do this. The legal department works for the company NOT the employees. They have no obligation to do what is in your best interest. Plus if you have interacted with either HR or Legal you would know that they are just as average as the rest of Cisco.

Maybe it's just me but I still don't understand what happened. The grammar is incomprehensible. Employee X doesn't get along with her/his boss. Employee refuses to enter an unconfirmed bid in the system which ticks off an already unfriendly boss. A family event happens and the employee resigns to take care of the situation. Then HR gets in the picture, LOAs come and go, complaints are filed by everyone against one another and I then I lost track.

someone comes out and presents evidence about wrong doing and all a troll can come up with is P*ss off already.

If you have something constructive to add, add it.

What has the guy got to do to convince you,

Are you saying actually it’s ok for Cisco to treat someone that way.

Are you saying it’s not true.

What are you saying?

"I believe I am the employee being discussed."

It's funny how both you and the OP can't write a coherent sentence, and that you both refer to Cisco in the plural. Pi-s off already.

Hello all
I believe I am the employee being discussed.

The email is true. I had no idea what the exec was saying about me at the time I was not copied on the mails. However I was awarded sales champion for the second successive year just after this emails were written.

To my ex colleagues you were amazing a great group of people. To Cisco HR and the Cisco exec. Shame on you.

On the question of resignation refused.

I did resign, however you’re right, HR used the term resignation refused. I personally would not have put it that way. I would have said resignation avoided, promised LOA then LOA taken away, employee resubmitted resignation and complaint raised against leader, LOA reinstated employee resignation withdrawn.
There were family reasons something Cisco are supposed to support.

Concerning this thread on this notice board. Let’s put this to bed. The email quoted, which by the way has been adjusted, probably to hide my identity I.e. employee swapped for he is true. However it was the tip of the ice berg.

What I would love to know is the reason for wanting to LR me on my return from LOA. Why lie about the existence of that data then hide behind legal privilege and only state the reason for non disclosure in response to a letter from my MP, not me.

Legally Cisco have clarified there were no performance or disciplinary issues. That is legal fact. It is also a fact I made a complaint.
It is a fact I should not vulnerable to a personal attack. I refused to submit an unapproved bid, that is what you are supposed to do I’m not going to prison for fraud, it was a big bid. So Cisco what was it why hide if so transparent and ethical?

Someone on this thread called out BS. Read the following quote from Chuck Robbins. C’mon Chuck do as you say be ethical tell Katsoudas and Team to tell the truth. You state privacy is a basic human right. Why did you not inform those impacted by the data breach, that I was given their personal information by your team. I met you, i shook your hand. I had respect for you. NOT ANYMORE.

"At Cisco, we are committed to developing innovative technology solutions that not only solve our customer’s challenges, but also help improve the lives of people around the world. We also believe that long-term, trusting relationships are built on honesty, integrity, and acting ethically. Respect for human rights play s an important role in maintaining these foundational principles. We are committed to respecting and upholding the human rights of all people."

"The resignation was refused"

That just doesn't make any sense. Cisco isn't a penitentiary. Unlike Hotel California, you can checkout anytime you want and you can very much leave. This story has been distorted too much. I'm not saying HR is innocen, it's just there's been information loss here.

I forgot. If you have read the evidence and are at Cisco and concerned , use the evidence, challenge HR.

To the OP who said publish. Please contact Cisco legal and Cisco HR. If they agree then yep I’m sure the ex employee will publish.

Put your money where your mouth is. Cmon fella.

The point is Cisco claim to be this amazing ethical company. They sell on their ethics. The evidence shows that is not the case. An exec takes a grudge makes claims about an employee’s emotional state. Employee is victimised has serious allegations with no evidence made against them and fired.

If an employee of Cisco suffers harassment or discrimination from an exec and complains then the evidence shows the exec gets protected, the victim is then put upon.

I am not a journalist just someone who witnessed something terrible from a company who have a group of individuals that are not what they say they are.

Who am I
I am a customer of Cisco the people I work with from Cisco are wonderful. They deserve better. Those in Cisco HR and others have lied. Maybe the evidence will come out one day but the damage done to the employee and his family means they just want it to end.
I know the 2nd out of court came close to closure. However no action taken internally.
If anyone is providing BS it’s Cisco HR.
Oh as a final add ask Cisco HR for the findings of the equalities and human rights commission into the case
As stated at the beginning it’s there for you to judge. The case is real. You can troll if you want that says more about you than this post

  2. What’s your point?
  3. You wrote:

The resignation question is interesting. The employee resigned when told the LOA was denied. The complexity was a bid the exec wanted submitted but it was not approved so Cisco refused the resignation as the employee had the details and had placed them on the sales tool but it was a very complex deal. Hence Cisco changed mind on LOA. Theory is once they had info the exec took revenge and the employee thinks this is why they lied about the personal data because that could say refusal to carry out duty but that duty was to submit an illegal bid which was fraud and illegal and breech of contract. Either that or the discrimination. Or both. There is another email where an HR person later stated this looks targeted. Damn right it was. As stated previously the employee had an excellent track record

How could they decline a resignation? That makes no sense.

The law which the data was released was the 1997 data protection act. This was then superseded by GDPR. Visit the information commissioners web site . Here is the link you can use this letter if in the UK or EU to obtain all personal data Cisco hold on you.

https://ico.org.uk/your-data-matters/your-right-to-get-copies-of-your-data/preparing-and-submitting-your-subject-access-request/

Onto what does the email mean. LOA means Leave of Absence.
The employee had been told they could have unpaid leave for a family matter.
It was important promises had been made.
At the last minute the exec refused the LOA blaming resource issues.
The employee raised a complaint against the exec and resigned.
The resignation was refused, but after the complaint was made the leave was granted.
However in the background the exec asked for the employee to be sacked.

What Cisco have refused to do is provide the reason for wanting the employee terminated. They lied about having the information, only a year letter Raj Soni the then director of employee relations, in response to a letter, stated the data did exist but was subject to legal privilege. A complaint was raised to the ICO. The ICO agreed with Cisco. A further court case followed but a further out of court settlement meant the employee did not see the reason for the request to terminate. The only data that is available is the statement about the exec claiming emotional stat and stating the employee should seek counselling.

The email is genuine ask Cisco employee relations. If you want a site to post the email anonymously I will. It’s obvious that those denying it’s true do not believe Cisco could do this. When convinced it’s true, what will you do about it.

What does this actually mean in English? I can't literally understand anything this leaked email is supposedly referring to.

Of course this is BS. Data disclosure legislation doesn't mandate Cisco to share any of those and even if it did, it's written so poorly that it's obviously a troll post.

Come on. Try harder.

This is not BS, it is not a joke. I also know there were 2 out of court settlements that the family suffered greatly due to serious unfounded allegations by Cisco because it got a lot worse. This email is not covered by the protection of the out of court settlements . You cannot post pictures here. Provide a journalist who you trust. I’ll send a hard copy to the journalist. The damage caused by Cisco HR was terrible.
