Forklift Drivers: MY FEET HURT!!!

I'm wondering if anyone else is having the same problem that I have. I've developed the worse problems with my feet over the five years I've been driving a forklift for Sam's. They gave the store some blue Sam's Club sneakers, but I think they should provide something better for drivers. I'm really not sure how to address this problem without ruffling managements delicate feathers.

If you spend any amount of time at Sams past 10 years you will definitely be in line for some sort of hip, leg, knee, ankle, or foot surgery. These concrete floors are death on your body.

34 yrs , driving lift all of the years. 4 years ago had a herniated disc. I Believe it came from all the continues years of driving for long periods of time and putting a lot of pressure on your left leg to stabilize yourself while also keeping brake off . Herniation left side of back . Not sure if certain shoes helps while standing in one spot with pressure on your back , but do believe good shoes are for walking and moving around on hard concrete surfaces as in Sam’s clubs . I have Hoka’s myself and seem to be good .

I've been working in Receiving for 28 years and I have tried most of the shoes and boots and socks that's available, a few years ago I was in physical therapy for my back and my therapist gave me a 30% coupon for some HOKA'S I tried them they didn't work for me so I ended up buying a couple pair of New Balance Fresh Foam Vongo's and a pair of Fresh Foam 1080's also I purchased some New Balance High Impact insoles on Amazon and that's what works for me I saw someone on here is using the Keen boots I'm thinking of trying them too, doing this job we all have some type of physical issue hopefully a lot more will post some positive insight on this problem

Recently my feet began to give me major issues. The pain was so bad on my right foot, I was almost crippled. I invested in a pair of HOKA's. They are expensive but worth every dime. Mt feet are no longer in pain.

It’s a very common problem with forklift drivers foot and knee problems that’s why the company insurance pays 100% for knee and hip surgery

30 yeas ... about 20 going in and out of trucks and on lift for several hours a day... tore up both knees... had them replaced a year ago...walmarts insurance has a program called centers of excellence... paid 100 percent of both knees... check it out if your knees are bad,,,

I used to have serious issues with my feet where it was so bad I had to hobble outa bed and grab the walls my feet hurt so bad. until I started wearing rugged hiking shoes. The stiffer bottom kept the flexing in my feet to a minimum. I wear keens voyageurs but to each it’s own.

I can only wear brooks tennis shoes. They are the only shoes that help my feet.

Address the problem by buying a good pair of supportive cushioned shoes. Don’t rely on the company to provide them. It’s not their responsibility, it’s yours. Take care of yourself.

Worked in receiving for 12 years. I blew out an L4 L5 disc as well as both knees from all those hard jolts going in and out of trucks. The old dock plates were brutal. 6 to 8 inch drops on some. The concrete floors didn't help much either. New shoes every 2 months. I'm paying dearly for all these years of punishment. I won't make it much longer.

You can't blame the forklift. Nobody told you to do that for a living.
Any sort of job YOU CHOOSE to perform, where you have to stand and/or walk all the time, you're going to need amazing shoes. Even more so, if you're also overweight or if you have arch problems. (I am both, so I'm not judging, just stating facts.)

I like Skechers Go Walk Evolution Ultra. Literally changed my life.
You may have to try something else, or a different insole. Only you know your feet.

buying my shoes is not truly the problem, it's the injury to my feet from the forklift and I was wondering how others are dealing with this. Maybe since you're such a smart mouth you can recommend some shoes or insoles
