I see quite a few job posts for external hires - Would you consider a position? Any groups to avoid (BTEC, EMRE, EMIT) ? What would be the pitfalls aside from the obvious that has been discussed here?

Joining this company is committing professional $uicide
Joining Exxon? What's wrong with you? Aren't you reading the posts here? Aren't you reading the newspapers? Haven't you heard what DW said during Investor's Day? There will be thousands of employees laid off this year and next year. What are you talking about? When all of us are leaving XOM you want to join the company. You should see a doctor. You are very sick dude.
Stay away from EMTEC (EMRE) 08801 we are a dumpster fire 🔥
If you are an experienced hire you will be treated as a second class citizen with limited opportunities to advance.
Avoid any data science role, especially those in the newly formed EMTEC.
Data science is hard in businesses with data and where decisions are made based on evidence, it’s impossible in a company where decisions are made by bosses gut feelings, biases, and preconceived notions.
Everyone qualified to do real data science has left, and they are happy working elsewhere.
The newly advertised roles will join people doing pet projects - in excel. It’s literally like working with cavemen.
@OP Welcome aboard, a troll or su---r. LOL
OP sounds to be an internal troll. Know too many acronyms. Start out as a field hand and work your way up learning the core business.
RTD/UIS avoid like plague. Worst employees ever. No talent. No motivation. All talk talk talk, meetings and PowerPoint engineers here. Psychopaths who are always looking for foreign travel, expat assignments like beggars
Go for it. They need a continuous supply of PIP fodder.
Do NOT
regret every day about my decision, specially if you are experience hire
Only join if you are really excited by oil and gas and see yourself wanting to spend your days learning everything you can about the business. Don't join if you picture yourself in a cushy job in a nice office doing corporate things to impress managers who think you are so great and want to hand you bonuses and the work is only a vehicle to that lifestyle. Guaranteed to be disappointed and caught up in the negativity
If you like an autocratic oligarchical system, you'll love it here.
Whatever you studied and really want to do with your mind,
it is also a great place to slow that process down.
Full stop!
