Thread regarding IBM layoffs

They ruin team dynamics without any consequences

I came here from a company that didn't have nearly as many problems with bullying as this one does. There are two people on my team who are seen here as star employees, although no one knows exactly why. They spoil the team dynamics and culture but are never reprimanded in any way nor given any warning. Are things like this spread all over IBM?

Look at the votes on @1gve. 11 positive and 4 negatives. Who do you think the negatives are from?

Nepotism abounds at IBM like no other company I have ever worked at. It's literally part of the corporate fabric. It's disgusting!

The nepotism in the innovation centers is absolutely disgraceful.
Several hubby-wife combos working along side each other.

I’ve seen a lot of bullying too, especially in Cloud, and instead of reprimanding it, it is celebrated. I have two colleagues who reported their manager for bullying them, and HR didn’t do anything. Of course, that manager is there because he is best friends with the VP. No qualifications whatsoever.

There is no structure for Career Advancement. Training and enablement is worse than subpar. Performance Management is used only in a negative manner, to justify RAs and firings. Place is a fv

I haven't seen bullying, but have seen some favouritism for apparent no reasons. Suspect lots of brown nosing done though. The fundamental problem is IBM doesn't have a structured measurement of performance for each role including management. No one seems to have any ideas who are high performers and doing the heavy lifting.

"Wait till you run into a few of the Executives children or relatives. Won't take long, they are everywhere."

I keep hearing this complaint here, but I've never encountered it. Can somebody name an example? It shouldn't be hard for us to verify, we all have access to the same BluePages.

There's a lot of that. I have suspect the further from doing something useful -- or at least measurable -- makes it worse. In CHQ it is nothing but a popularity contest with people with zero skills (hard or soft except s*cking up) getting promoted rapidly. The craziness around looking busy, letting others know you are in charge, and posing with the popular in-crowd is as high as it's ever been.
