people who use the phrase "was let go" are really insecure. like u were really a top performer and the co just decided to show you the door for no reason at all, really?
i do a lot of interviews and whenever a job applicant uses this term during the interview process, he/she is automatically eliminated as a potential new hire.

Problem with SD-WAN is that is mostly not a new tech upgrade but just basically Automating site-to-site tunnels and Guifying everthing, wich is a very bad idea do to the level o granularity, and stapling a NMS on top. there is no new groundbreaking tech under the hood just consolidation.

Why have 3 VMs to manage a sd-wan network, and not just 1/2 ore move some of the intelligence moved to the edge boxes,

in the Enterprise Wan market, Cisco Routers Still beats anything in terms of functionality since the IOS has a buck-load tech features that have been developed throughout the years.

Where other vendors shine is the fact that their solutions are way simpler since they support a small sub-set of features that current cisco routers support, making it simpler and more appealing, however under the hood is the same basic B.S

Getting pushed out can be stressful, but consider it an opportunity to upgrade. Stay positive. Don't let this overwhelm you. This is one of the best technical employment markets in a very long time. Put Cisco behind you. You will have a better future after you get through this career transition period.

Sdwan is a commodity now, learn new skills along the way.

Cloud, devops etc.. which will get you somewhere solid, however keep in mind even these skills will get commoditized soon, you might want to up-skill to stay ahead of curve to help with these situations. Layoffs are hard. Good luck.

Who would have thought in 2022 Cisco's weakest and highest competition product was WAN routers. A 180 from the 1980s/90s. Cisco IOS was the clean and concise CLI config, and Wellfleet was the kludgy/buggy GUI mess.

Everyone and their Aunt now offers an SD-WAN solution.

It has become commodity.

@gye+1fBcNXbh Agree about SD-WAN and SDA. Every SDA deployment I have been involved with is a CAP case. SD-WAN sucks st Cisco. Security is slightly better and stable in my experience.

SD-WAN, SDA and security are currently car crashes. I have very big well known customers who run SDA and SD-WAN with literally dozens of very complex TAC cases. Every time they fix it it breaks again with the next software update and confidence is zero that this will ever be made to work reliably. The sales pitch is well in advance of the reality that can be delivered and it is overwhelming the field.

Really sorry to hear this. Cisco’s SD-WAN solution is a disaster and antiquated. Way too complicated and buggy for customers.

Wish you all the best in your job hunt. There is a Facebook group of ex-Cisco job hunters. Cisco Systems Alumni: lot of people have found their next gig through there.

Best wishes!
