So I am doing pro-Bono work outside my business hours to get experience in my new career path. Even though being pro-bono and outside my working hours do I need to inform the firm I am doing that?

Don't tell them anything. It's really none of their business regardless of what the policies say.

Depends on if the said work could present a conflict of interest or if the work competes with WF in any way.
When in doubt, go through the global pre clearance process and they will decide. Always best to disclose outside activities if you are unsure.
