Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

I quit today because I refuse to commit fraud

My RSM was threatening a coaching discussion if I didn't open a sole prop for a new line.. Customer just wanted to add their uncle to their account. Manager took my iPad and clicked on Business and said Just do what we talked about or i will have to document this.

AT&T retail is falsifying new Business lines by creating sole prop accounts to people who aren't even cru eligible.

I want no part, I said No. I told the customer what the manager was trying to do & I walked out.

Toxic workplace needs an FCC inquiry

Did you quit because there was no money for you in committing fraud?

Unfortunately this has been going on for years. Add to the list of IRU accessory discounts, fake Directv accounts, the list goes on.

I was coached for “spending too much time on the DTV now fraud issue” while in retail ops. Huge churn and class action lawsuit later lol…

This kind of fraud was rampant in the Florida market. Apparently, every customer who had a side hustle, regardless if they delivered for Uber, or owned a business. This was used as a tool quite frequently to skirt around any down payments required for these individuals when they had to put money down due to their credit. It was encouraged to create sole prop accounts and contact an assigned store BAE to have the phones shipped directly to them to remove any down payments. I had to leave AT&T due to the overwhelming acts of fraud committed at the retail store level. I have brought this to my market manager's attention, and they would turn a blind eye and see it as I was being difficult, and I didn’t want to be a team player. The amount of TMP, Next up fraud being done on customers' accounts is extremely overwhelming. It doesn’t take a friggin genius to see based on daily reporting and 30-day removals which individuals are committing it. The direction managers were giving my fellow employees was just to add it on, and if the customer doesn’t want it, they will simply call in. It’s crazy that att hasn’t been hit with any class action lawsuits or featured in any news articles for this practice. I have concluded that the only way to move up in the company is to lack integrity or sleep with your superior. I can’t speak for other districts in the USA, but it’s safe to say that this is a common practice throughout the country.

Explains why somebody on my acct with an existing watch line that was upgradable. Store rep created a new line instead of using the existing line. Guess they thought I wouldn’t notice the extra line. Complete BS. Had to waste a call to care to cancel the unused line.

CRU gross adds are more attractive to the shareholders. They're considered more loyal customers. When the shareholders see more gross adds for that sector they invest more. More investments mean more bonuses for the higher ups. I'm not saying it's right, but that's why they do it.

yep contacting asset management and HR would result in you losing your job anyway. they are there to protect the company not the employee

I call BS, why would you open a brand new account just to add a line. Account already exists no need to run sole prop application.

The COBC number is 888 871 2622. Print Salesforce article on Sole Proprietor Abuse, put printout in pocket. Call Employee Assistance Program (EAP) and make appointment for high stress situation of RSM trying to make you abuse rules of sole prop. Put appointment in your personal phone. Then, tell RSM you are uncomfortable abusing ‘sole-prop’ as documented on Saleforce, then go outside, call COBC, tell them you’re uncomfortable returning to work because RSM pressuring you to violate sole proprietor rules, creating high stress working conditions due to fraudulent treatment of customer records. Request to go home. Then, go home. Be strong. You’re putting and end to the scam in your ARSM territory and possibly the market. You are protected because you have policy and mental health documents. If they try to fire you for BS issue, you can report as whistleblower retaliation and sue AT&T.

contact AP or HR? Those are internal orgs that are protecting the bottom line. This stuff has been reported to them time and time again.

Someone needs to report fictious shareholder financial filings to the SEC. Like Wells Fargo, they are willingly reporting false information.

“so... why didn't you contact asset protection and/or HR on this matter?”

What a d-mb thing to ask.

Both asset and hr only try to protect the company at the cost of the employee.

You’re either a manager or an id--t.

It’s nice to see employees stand up for what is right and ethical behavior. I commend you for doing what you did, especially when we all need an income.
