All the studies about inefficiencies are done by middle managers or screened by middle managers such that no study ever finds the over abundance of middle managers as a problem.

Historically, we have always been a management Company. Discipline engineers were mainly supervisors of Contractor or Supplier discipline engineers who mainly needed to be familiar enough ti discover the right answers from an internal core group who maintained the body of knowledge. The degree to which real experts were developed or hired to facilitate business and posted around the world always went in cycles. Now we are back to all time low. Contractors and Suppliers love it that way. "Just open your checkbook and ask us and we'll help you with your PowerPoint" Hahaha Suckers
@3hkl+1fEEP9ul Totally agree, and in the last few years this has got significantly worse. It's like the company's primary cause is to generate work for supervision and management to look good doing. Core work isn't even on our radar and definitely isn't recognised or valued.
We are a company of managers. We hire other companies to do actual work. It’s been this way for some time in certain parts of the business.
With all the EM managers how do the minonions get anything done!!
Truly the situation in Annandale, Could consolidate these group and department heads start in PA wing and Research Operations. We are doomed. NJRSC trash.
It is sad. Too many managers and with CS&i, they just multiplied. Musical chairs, people just passing through to punch their card and clueless people promoted based on aesthetic criteria on how they look.
Sorry this is beyond repair. If it was a TV series most of us would find it unreal. And yet it is reality in EM
so many managers and no one knows how to make decisions. They neither accept the recommendations nor come up with something else. Then no one writes minutes for meetings and nothing gets done.
If we can see this surely the top tier can and would want to make some moves.
A lot of people want to become managers at EM so that they have minions to do the work...managers at EM only spend their times attending zoom calls and don't have any useful skills and only good at talking and not making any decisions at all...I bet they will not survive if they are going to work at other companies...hence you see some managers who are being transfered to Celanese knows this and afraid they will not survive working there...
The more worker bees get laid off (and jump ship), the more middle and top heavy EM becomes.
The middle and the top are the ones involved in staffing studies so they always conclude that we need fewer minions.
We are going to end up with 1 manager for every 1 minion.
Will not go any lower than 1 to 1 because the manager needs to keep at least 1 minion to do the work.
I can't wait for all the business trips restarting with 120 dollar crude!
Have you seen that middle management being laid off ? it is only the worker bees that needs to go when company is doing laid-off...although middle-management is the one that cost the company a lot...EM never learn their lessons!
Yes.
Yes it does seem worse now for some strange reason. I think Darren and Karen might need to take a look at that.

We were middle-management heavy a few years ago before all the layoffs, it’s somehow worse now
All mid-managers are poorly trained opportunists. No exceptions.
The idea of selecting 'leader' skills for these positions does not exist.
It is NOT same as it ever was.
We're a COMMODITY company now.
And mid-management is simply another commodity.
Hogs and chickens.
Do bears cra* in the woods?
Remember the old movie " Office Space"? Most of us have three or more bosses af any given time.
Anyone who has worked for EM knows the obvious answer to this question!
