Thread regarding ExxonMobil Corp. layoffs

Before I go Checklist

I'm quitting soon. What should I expect once I give my 2 week notice? Is there checklist? Who do I need to contact to make sure I get my unused vacation paid out, lump sum, etc.?

Thank you in advance

Do you get your last check and remaining vacation payout deposited or mailed to you?

@cmb if you want to search only exxon's board here just exxon to your search query.

Alternatively you can go to google and type in this (just replace thisismysearchterm with whatever your search term is):

https://www.google.com/search?q=thisismysearchterm+site:thelayoff.com+intitle:ExxonMobil

Spend all your pre tax elections and buy glasses or sunglasses if you need to use up last monies. The entire pretax dollars you allocated for the entire year are payable when spent, even if you have not contributed the full amount. Kinda bizarre but an idiosyncrasy of us tax law that funds have to be paid out when spent even if underfunded buy the individual at that time.

From some old posts.. hope it helps

If you have anything at the office, go get it ASAP before your badge gets cut off, email yourself an employment verification sheet from EDA, save pdfs of the HR website about pension and 401k info. Create an independent login to Voya instead of SSO, save as many numbers as possible that you may need later

Use up dental/vision benefits
Download pay stubs and W2s
Make sure voya is set to personal email
Send pictures from events
Copy down key contacts in case I need help (supervisor, HR, etc)
Clean out desk, personal belongings, etc

Here's a running list of to-do items I've been saving for whenever that sweet day of my departure comes. Most of these items came from other posts & comments on this site/forum, so thanks to everyone in the past who shared their advice and experiences. Congratulations, and I wish you happiness and success wherever you're going! I'm totally jealous and can't wait to be where you are someday soon =).

• Update EDA with personal email (to receive pay stubs and tax documents electronically)
• Record what date you started at XOM (you will need this later)
• Save all company contact information related to HR and benefits
• Save supervisor's contact information
• Clean out desk and take home personal belongings _prior_ to resignation notice (in case you get walked out)
• Download one year (or more) of past pay stubs
• Download record of unused vacation time to make sure carryover and unused days get paid
• Use any insurance benefits as much as possible
• Obtain an employment verification
• Print out the HR site page that says they will pay out pension lump sum and vacation carryover (for your records)
• Print out the lump sum estimates for your pension, if applicable
• Use all floating holidays
• Delete Zoom chat history
• Download/print copies of any plan documents for any plans that you will be in; retirement, pension, healthcare, etc.
• Convert any personal accounts (frequent flier, EYFPC, Voya, car rental, etc.) connected to your work email to a personal email account
• Make sure you have an account set up with benefits admin
• Download a copy of latest compensation and benefits statement
• Download past PDS documents/forms
• Save any useful external business contacts
• Send a farewell email to co-workers you liked

=== Below are some helpful comments others have shared that I've saved ===
• "The Voya process is fairly simple. Do call them PRIOR to your exit and get your pin set up. This is crucial. Once you leave (and your certain your contributions are done) you simply call Voya, give your pin, and have them send a check to your new brokerage. If fidelity, vanguard, whomever, setup an IRA (Roth or regular, both dependent on how your 401k contributions were) and get the address of the check, and whom to make it out to. Voya simply takes this info and sends off your money. In a week or two, it will be in your new

Convert any personal accounts (frequent flier, EYFPC, Voya, etc.) connected to your work email to a personal email account.
Confirm in EDA that your address and contact info are correct.
Make sure you have an account set up with Benefits admin. (Can do afterward, but it’s more of a pain)
Download a copy of your latest compensation and benefits statement
Download a few years of your past EADS/KO feedback.
Bring your personal items home ahead of the notice.
Save any useful external business contacts (cards, emails, numbers).
Craft a farewell email to coworkers you actually enjoyed.

I left in January and there was a good discussion on this subject with a checklist. Search for What do I need to do before leaving
You should find a thread related to XOM
Good luck to you, I know I made the right decision then and now.

Make sure your retirement account is tied to your personal phone number.

Also, you will receive an offer within 30 days to rollover your funds. Take it. It will come by mail. Hopefully you are pension vested.

Get the names and contact info for those you worked with. They could form a part of your network. Also, it’ll be interesting in the future to maybe look them up and see what they’ve ended up doing.

Before I left I got names. It is interesting to see how many have left the company since then.

@cmb unfortunately the site doesn't seem to make that easy. Best is to just browse the thread and look for what you want, unless someone comes along with some fancy google-fu for you. https://www.thelayoff.com/exxon-mobil

Get a copy of your most recent pay stub printed out and make sure your home email is the default in EDA. Call benefits and set up your pin and get benefits number and web address. Get Voya number and set up pin and get web address. Your sup sets up your Pay In Lieu for vacation pay but double check with your admin. Benefits should reach out to you about lump sum about 2 weeks after leaving.

How do I search the website? The search engine in this site searches in all forums. How can I search the XOM forum only?

Don't forget to take a cube photo and make a donut on your way out. Also, go extra mile and send a final good bye email to uncle Woody.
