And then the whole Russia thing happened. Now I'm so scared of how it will affect the world's overall economy in the long run that I can't bring myself to do it. I can't be the new guy somewhere at a time like this. Whatever happens, I'd be the first to go. I wish I was braver, but I'm not. I'll be staying for a while longer.

I changed jobs during the start of covid. No big deal, except I started remotely, so I didn’t get to meet the team for a year. I felt much better after meeting people in person when we were able to come back to office. Body language, facial expressions, tone of voice are all important when making first impressions.
How is your job impacting you emotionally, physically, psychologically, even spiritually? Good BOA friend of mine used to say that every day working at BOA took a small chunk of his soul. It's unfortunately true for too many. This place is cursed from the top down. Hotel California. The Devil you know.
Yeah you don’t want to be Russian out the door right now.
Most companies don't have regular layoffs in the way BOA does, nor are they going to trim their workforce because of the geopolitical situation in Eastern Europe. Even if they did, deciding who gets laid off is always more complicated than just firing all the most recently hired people. But I think it's the idea of starting something new and unfamiliar that you're really worried about. I'm assuming this is either your first white collar job or you've been at BOA for a long time.
Nervousness about change is human, but people switch jobs all the time without issue. Staying at one company for the majority of your career hasn't been normal in the US for decades. Every time I've changed jobs I've received a raise larger than I ever would've gotten staying where I was.
You'll be fine. My recommendation is to not give notice until you have a written job offer from somewhere else. Every company you'd actually want to work for expects you to have to give at least two weeks to your current employers.
Do what’s best for you!!
