Hey folks, I've seen OP at the office. Remember Milton from office space? I guess that's what a delta male is.

@1jsr+1fG87gdV We have two regularly scheduled 90 minute mandatory meetings per week. Yes you read that right. The purpose is to provide our drunken blowhard of a senior manager with a captive audience. He manages to fill the time.

@1qwc+1fG87gdV Same! I get 2-3 hours for actual work when I am in office and I get very cranky if that time is reduced. Luckily I have a good manager. We can go to him if something is needed and we have a team meeting once a month. Other than that he is very hands off which is preferred. Let me work, manage things if I need help. Thats good management.

I agree anything beyond once a month is wasted time. My time is wasted enough while I am in office. I don't need my thin slot for actual work to be reduced any further.

If you are doing meetings every morning, or every week for that matter, yeah that's bad management. Once a month - max. That's all that is needed. We employ adults, and they shouldn't need micromanaging to get a job done. If they do, you have hired the wrong people or you have poor management skills.

OP - You’re so obvious, in your grasping for attention, that I can’t even get mad at you. I hope your life gets better.

@1tqu+1fG87gdV Why yes, yes we do have poor management. Our so-called manager is a drunken old sot who can’t do morning meetings because he’s too hungover. The clique around him just keeps telling him he’s a god and everyone enjoys the good life.

That means you have poor management for not catching that kind of stuff and correcting it.

FYI - OP likes to post about garbage all day. OP spends 8 hours per day collecting the garbage from all of your offices.

@OP you don't have to come here and post the exact same garbage every day. Whining about other people is as delta male as it gets.

Do yourself (and us) a favor, don't come back.

I’m going back, and I agree with you. I’m in a marketing group where people think more than one project means they’re overworked. We’ve had two years of getting paid to make occasional cameo appearances on video calls while health care, grocery store, and so many more workers saved lives and kept us fed.

And now people are whining because they have to go back to the office.

No sympathy here. None.

If you are able to answer emails from your phone, you are working. Just because its a mobile tool doesn't diminish the fact it's still work.

Your kids are in school, good for them. My niece took advantage of home schooling and graduated at 16 instead of 18. She starts college in the fall. People learn, work, and excel in different ways. It's best not to limit those options.

The folks most disappointed have been WFH for years. This isn't a return to normal for us. This is like starting a new job.

Some of you know full well you weren't working at home; and that's why you're crying about going back.
You were running around, doing something else, answering emails from your phone, sleeping, doing whatever else.
Now you have to come back to the office and sit inside the office and deal with actual people at work like you've been doing before. Cry me a river. Biggest cry babies I've ever seen. My kids are in school, and they're not whining about it. They couldn't wait to get back.

And those employees will be one of the three biggest groups displaced this year. Branch jobs are all but finished. Limited growth at the best, and job loss at the worst.

There may have been a few people who were lazy or who took advantage of the situation, but that really speaks to the quality of their management that they were not caught or dismissed for those behaviors.

OP - You chose that job, just like I chose my remote job. Deal.
