This is not a theoretical "what if" anymore. People in other companies are not going to the office and they're doing fine. We've seen it in the news and we've heard about it from people we know. I even heard that some are still working from home even after their companies instituted RTO six months ago. I'm seriously considering just continuing to work from home.

Saying they can't fire us all is beyond stupid. They don't have to fire us all at once. How do you think they have been off-shoring work? They cut, put an Indian in the role and move forward. They'll even tolerate it for a little while until they find your replacement, and then you'll be out on the street, no unemployment, and no severance. But you do you. Go ahead. Maybe you won't be fired this round, but they will get you eventually. WF has shown they do not care about protecting the brand nor protecting the worker. No one is irreplaceable. There are 200 Indians and 23 Filipinos waiting in line to fill your seat.

So just stay home. Hopefully WF will back down, but if they don't and WF terminates you, hopefully you have the financial resources to survive until you find something else. Oh and by the way, don't count on unemployment since WF terminated you for cause.
I hope I don't work with any of these constant complainers, but I know I do. They "embrace candor" about how terrible everything is. The ship has sailed, show up or face the stated consequences. The constant negativity isn't helping.
Don’t go in. Just say no to RTO. If enough of us refuse to return there is nothing the bank can or will do. If you prefer to WFH but show up at the office like a good little soldier you only have yourself to blame.

I'd have more respect if you just stated that you prefer to work from home instead of using 5 yr olds as human shields to 'justify' staying home.
If you truly are frightened of a virus that statistically doesn't affect children, that is just sad and the rest of your life will be miserable.
I never used to like to work from home, but was then forced to for obvious reasons. Now that I have adapted to the work from home concept, there is absolutely no benefit being back in the office. Technology has replaced that need. I will be using the same technology designed to be used to bring people together across long distances and will be using it within the confines of an office. I will be on a Skype call six feet away from my team members who will only hear echoes because we are too close together. We will have to separate across the floor to call into our team meetings so that we can collaborate.

Stay home then. Everyone makes their own choices but needs to live with the consequences. Pros and Cons to every decision. No one else needs to know your feelings. Nor do they care
I’m staying home. It’s not worth my health and sanity to go in. Brick and mortar face time is antiquated and dead. They can fire me if they want.
Half the people at Goldman didn't show up when they starting forcing RTO lol. I'd love to see the same happen here. Bunch of Boomer executives thinking that if they force us into a building that will magically make everything like it was before COVID.
Same here. I'm not risking family (1 elderly and 2 below 5 y.o.) safety for unnecessary RTO. We've consistently double masked, completely avoided going out to places w/large groups of people -- many unvaxxed and maskless -- and have NEVER had COVID. Nothing is more important than health. Our neighbor (a few blocks away) is hospitalized and on ventilator. COVID is still circulating. This RTO is reckless.
