I’ve never seen an organization with so many people having the titles President, CEO, CFO, SVP, VP, AVP and Chief of Staff. You could easily cut 75% of those people and direct those salaries to individuals that actually do work and create value!!

Too many managers with fake titles (Vice President, President, Chief... lol) being paid way too much to make PowerPoints and talk about their vision of the future with another "presentation of the month". Meanwhile, the rest of us are trying desperately to hold the company together, despite the C-Suite and Bobbsey Twin whales costing us billions in revenue hand over fist with failed mergers and aquisitions, none of which were the fault of loyal employees who now see their benefits reduced and careers threatened with endless layoffs because of poor management.
This post is a result of what happens when many of the employees, especially ‘craft’, ‘bargained for’ lack basic knowledge about organizational structures.
BTW, an EVP is higher than SVP and generally reports to the President….
Wow, you folks have a "short" or "selective" memory. Just a few sweet years ago Elliott Management bought enough shares to place Bill Marrow in as a consultant. I saw Bill in a webcast with some of our "leaders" and he stated unequivocally that AT&T was top heavy. 9 levels. Mc Elfresh, in a webcast showed some ba--s to John and stated "We cannot cost cut our way to success". Anyways, Elliott Management decided to cut their losses with AT&T as the management culture was too entrenched.
What is the difference between Executive VP and Sr. VP?

Hmmm. There are thousands of Mom and Pop shops where you can try to find work where the owner runs the shop, handles customer complaints, writes the checks, places ads for workers, etc. But a corporation with over 200k global employees has many positions doing many different functions, and the skills are not simply and easily transferable. For obvious reasons an AVP in sales is not going to be the person responsible for the financials for the company ie, CFO. Maybe a privately owned company with fewer employees would better suit you….
