Thread regarding Bank of America layoffs

Any tips on how to put in my 2 weeks?

I did it guys. Finally got a job offer and get to leave this cr---y bank.
This will be my first time putting in my 2 weeks at a job, is there anything I should know; ?
Do I take my sick days, should I tell my manager via email or phone, etc.
Don’t want to miss out on anything/sour the relationship.

You really would have had to something terribly bad or illegal to not get hired back. I’ve seen many people come back that left abruptly or slacked and rarely came in once they gave their last two weeks.

Don't forget to use all the points from the rewards you have accumulated through the years. Even if it is for gift cards, people tend to forget about those. Good luck!

Yes take those sick / personal days because you won't get paid out on those. Save your vacation days, because you do get paid for any earned vacation time that hasn't been taken. Good luck.

Never burn your bridges, always leave the possibility to get back in (especially if you work in IT security).

i will also add, be prepared to leave earlier. you may give two weeks, but they can tell you to leave sooner than that. Congrats on the new job. Best of luck.

Send them a letter of resignation by email and offer to be contacted by phone if need be to make the transition smoother. You can find many templates online!

Send an email and leave with a smile. You never know where you might work with them again.

There is no reason to leave on a bad note and burn a bridge. “The Street” is small and you never know when this manager may be at another firm you may look to get a job.
There’s never a positive thing that comes out of leaving on a bad note other than a few minutes of personal satisfaction.

Bad egg managers smear exiting employees that weren't on their brown-noser list. Smear your professional reputation, spread rumors, make disparaging remarks, false accusations that you were a "threat" after you leave. Lie and say that you "walked off the job" even after you put 2 weeks' notice in writing - and got paid for those 2 weeks! They do this to the best of their employees. Be careful.

I would go out with class because you never know if you might need this shlithole bank down the road. This bank keeps a do not rehire list on people.

Never burn a bridge. Do it by phone, offer your 2 weeks and leave with your head held high. Good luck!
