Thread regarding Bank of America layoffs

Smaller banks are not the answer

I've seen it suggested often to look for a job in a smaller bank to avoid the issues that are usually associated with major banks, but the truth is that even they have their own problems. I worked at a regional bank for four years and it was just as bad as here. We had our benefits and vacation days cut with no explanation, we would show up just to find people missing, again with no explanation... There is no perfect workplace out there. If you keep looking for one, all you'll get is a disappointment.

100% agree. I went to a smaller company and the grass isn’t always greener on the other side. Incompetence, unfortunately, is everywhere. Company politics, too.

The solution is Fintech. Most of us have desirable experience in that field, the pay is better, the benefits are better and the culture is generally better.

You also have to worry about being acquired by larger banks or mergers w/ other similar sized banks and becoming redundant.

Break up the Big 4 bank monopoly (BOA, CG, WF, JPM). Divide each faceless zombie bank into 4 regional banks. Save the employees, shareholders, and customers much grief. Still too big to fail.
