Thread regarding Fiserv Inc. layoffs

Leaving this here

Fact: Most office workers are more productive when they work remotely. Over the past three decades, the computer industry has created a mobile computing infrastructure that is superior to a centralized office. It took a pandemic to prove the obvious.

Why then the push for a return to the status quo ugly? Simple: Big companies don't want workers to have the choice to work anywhere. They want employees to be captive to their jobs and too burned out to look for work elsewhere.

There is no reason to come into an office to do a Teams meeting. Most teams don't collaborate in person, as team members are in various locations. Our team has people in Alpharetta, Hagerstowm, Coral Springs, Hunt Valley, and India. So how is that in person collaboration working out???? Go virtual, and sell some real estate. It is a matter of control and micromanaging. There is a lot of trust here Look at Sapience. If you don't click a key every few seconds, you are away from your computer. This is not meant for the IT world. What's next....badge swipes for the toilet stalls?

To me Fiserv loses the argument of supporting hybrid work when a) the company is forcing relocation and b) micromanges office attendance with a non compliance list that gets sent to your VP.

Sorry the company already announced that employees can work from home two days a week if they prefer. In addition Fiserv has thousands of sales people, contact center and sme’s who work from home. So this false narrative us just that. Personally I very much enjoy and appreciate this flexibility.

The corporate world is about control. Working in the office and being micro managed is the modern form of slavery.

Any President, Dem or Rep, pushing back to office protocols is easily, automatically out of touch with we the people. And I'll just leave that there.

"But it will be easier to train new employees if everyone is in the same office."
We are more likely to see Big Foot in the office than a newly hired employee. Maybe if the teams were getting bigger instead of smaller the lie would make sense.

Let's try to keep politics off this board - we may fight here but business subjects are proper. Same goes for Linkedin which is getting political too. Take politics to Facebook and play there with the children,
