Working as a contractor

I am one of those employees at Cisco who would rather work as a contractor than as an employee. I may be wrong, but sometimes it seems to me that it is much better to work here as a contractor.

I work for a Cisco vendor. We offer 401(k), PTO, Health Insurance (HSA), Certification reimbursement, and more. There are good contracting companies out there.

Ex-Blue badge here, I am sure I was part of a pilot program that I was asked to come back as a red badge. It is not so bad, but I do miss the yearly bonus. This has been the company's direction for years, but this time, it is more company comprehensive because it does help with cooking the books and enables the bottom line.

Why is anything better as a contractor? You have no employment contract with Cisco meaning zero benefits.

Most groups that provide internal services will have to work vendors to hire blue badges forced to go red if they want to stay with the company.

Contractors make significantly less due to a lack of benefits. There's a reason Cisco is quietly replacing full-time employees with contractors. The benefits below add up to a significant amount of money.

Stock?
401k match?
Health Insurance?
HSA Contribution?
ESPP?
Vacation Days?
Severance Package?
