Thread regarding Honeywell International Inc. layoffs

I think most of us are safe from layoffs

Think about it, attrition is so bad right now that we're backfilling for the first time in a long while. That means HON leadership is realizing that no, you can't get the work done unless you have an appropriate amount of people doing the job. I don't see them suddenly deciding to add to the attrition they're struggling with by having more layoffs. Call me a fool, but I'm not stressing over layoffs for the first time in a while.

Ok here's some insight to all those that think you may be safe. Over my 13+ years with the company, you are on the HW merry go round. You are never safe and just when you think you are....some world event happens like 911, pandemic, stock market blip, HW will always be affected and leaders at HW will always react with a knee jerk reaction...always. They NEVER look out for employees because you are their biggest lever to cut costs. The constant churn of leaders doesn't help either because they have to prove they are making an impact in order to receive their lofty bonuses and stick plans. How do they do that? Cut heads, it's the only real way to show you are making an impact as a leader, so the schemes become very repetitve....close sites, consolidate, eliminate departments, change bands of employees. Why would you need HOS or any kind of process improvement when you have the largest cost in the company that you can manipulate when ever tough times arrive or you need to show progress....your employees! Like I said. 13 years of experience, as a Director, I know how the HW sausage is made and you should too. Think about the culture and tell me that this does not add up for you.

If you are unable to hire one solution is to consolidate tasks and pile work on a central but smaller pool of workers. That leads to footprint reduction and layoffs.

If they miss q1 for wall street, heads will roll. Translation...rif at the worker level to make sure they make q2 which will not look better than q1. Look at current events. Inflation, war, supply issue, and china just locked down 51 million in major cities with lots of factories...makiing supplu issues worse. This will impact our factory from bad to worse. Less income means need to cut expense and that is us

Since I have been back in the office, I noticed at least 10 people who were there 2 years ago had left. It is kind of shocking.

Don't ever make that mistake. A colleague gave 3 weeks notice on Monday. HR said they were worried about her workload and offered her last day to be Friday and that she could take the other two weeks as vacation. Sounds like layoffs are about to hit and two weeks of vacation is less expensive than 10 weeks of severance.

I was told look for a new job within 2 months after record performance and bonus in 21. Excuse given was business restructure and role does not fit within new org. I found similar role in another SBG. It was unexpected but not shocking as HON keeps making arbitrary decisions to show government they are adding jobs.

Lol we had 45 units to be ran and it take a shift to run one. They have a new guy on 1st shift that can barely run the bench and I was laid off because they said my productivity wasn't good enough. So now they pretty much have no productivity at all. It was a breath of fresh air. I was done with that place but I was not going to quit.

Your first mistake is to ever think you are safe from a layoff. No one is ever safe from a layoff, anywhere. Many organizations, including HON, lay off out the back door while hiring through the front door, at the same time. It's a way of constantly pruning the dead wood while starting new growth. If you are sensed to be a coaster who is not worried about getting axed, you've just hung a huge target on your back.

they expect you to complete the same amount of work with less people on your team. This has always been the case. Teams are being forced to work after hours or weekends to make up for attrition because they don't replace those workers.
