Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

Anyone leaving to work remote?

Are you able to negotiate a robust remote contract this time? I’m a little concerned about taking a “remote” role based on a handshake again after what happened at WF. I’m curious if any companies are doing this.

If you are young enough to have a career ahead of you, then don't stick around ANY company for more than a couple years. Leave the company and let them know why.

If you are old enough to be "retirement eligible", then DON'T leave your current job. Just keep the paychecks rolling in until they get rid of you (which they WILL do).

@1pqa - Mostly agree, but there aren’t many others in line. We’ve been down 20% on our team, no external hires for ages, and none in sight. Who in their right mind wants to join this awful place??

I can't wait to let them know that I'm quitting specifically because of the awful leadership decisions, including RTO in the face of $5 gas and $6 fuel (I drive a vehicle with a diesel engine), 2% pay raises in a year with 7% inflation while the CEO gets a 20% raise, bragging about offshoring more than 30k jobs in full org meetings, forced ranking performance metrics, cheating us on 401k match, discretionary bonuses that focuses on favoritism instead of actual performance, total lack of transparency around decisions that affect all employees... '

Jeepers. take a breath,

then, once you're done hyperventilating, just remember;

They.

Don't.

Care.

Your leaving just saves them money. they don't give a cr-p why, there will be more in line.

sorry, but that's the way it is these days.

I'm actively applying for remote positions outside the company. The list goes on and on. The sad thing is, I really like my team and my manager, and I truly enjoy the work that I do. It's just become abundantly clear that the company intends to make the rich executives even richer at the cost of the employees. I've worked for large global corporations my entire career and never have I felt as disconnected from the goals of the company as I do at WF. They're truly getting ready to lose a lot of good people.

Without hesitation I'd leave. I know several others who are looking now that expectations are being pushed and badge swipes to be monitored.

An offer letter is not a contract.

OP is asking about working for another company - taking a job that says remote is OK on a "handshake"

The fact is, any company can change terms of employment at any time. such is corporate life. it's even worse at startups. Sure, a written agreement is better than nothing. but a written agreement will also say it can be revoked at any time for any reason - just as the WF agreements did.

Belongings or not, don't be a lemming. We need to stand together against RTO.

I went in twice and now I am not going in until they return all of my belongings. I am protesting! Ha! We will see what happens.
