Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

Returned My DTV Equipment

Like everyone else, we canceled once discount was gone. DTV dude that was responsible for employee accounts sounded deflated and said he'd gotten tons of calls and was sorry he couldn't do anything for us.

Put our equipment in a box to return to UPS. UPS asked if we knew what was up since she'd been inundated with DTV equipment returns. We told her she was seeing ATT employee cancelations. And we discussed streaming options. We went Fubo and don't miss DTV at all. She liked Sling.

But sure, let's reward Randall for a colossal DTV purchase fail and reward the Stank for a $40 billion something loss when he sold. And then come after me hard for a 25$ extra charge on a travel voucher because I made the mistake of calling AMEX instead of making changes online site due to weather. Makes perfect sense: $25 extra AMEX charge bad. $40B+ DTV sale loss, okay.

Make sure you get the tracking info on your returned DTV equipment. Some never make it back, they get lost or held up in one of the FedEx distribution hubs never to be found again. If this happens to you make sure you contact DTV with the tracking info and tell them it is now out of your hands and make sure they do not charge you for the lost equipment.

If they haven't contacted you yet, just take your equipment to UPS or FedEx with your name and account number and they will ship it back for free. I couldn't get that klunk out of my house fast enough.

RE: TO @yje+1fXUO9hD
DTV is currently giving a discount to AT&T employees, albeit a smaller one than before. Yes they could have left the old discount since T owns 70% of DTV and TPG owns 30%. Yes AT&T could offer a bigger discount. You need to get a clue

Do you actually work at T? Do you own a calculator? The “discount “ is only about $10 less than the special offered to new customers. Plus new customers get movie channels free for 3 months, free NFL Sunday ticket, and sometimes there is a $100+ Visa gift card!

Disconnected my DTV service after 900% price hike. Who knew there is so many free streaming choices. Glad that this will help DTV and new owners make some bucks.

Mass cancellation of T employee accounts is not a loss for DTV in any way. DTV services were so heavily discounted they were being offered at a loss for a long time. Looking at things from a business perspective, it’s not surprising DTV stopped offering the same level of discount once the split from T went into effect.

DTV and its 70% shareholder just screwed themselves. Lost many subscribers and got tons of old equipment back. Wonder what DTV will do with that old technology. Sell it to China for a penny?

When I called to cancel our service the equipment was so old they said to just throw it out. So much for long time subscribers. Steaming with FREE SamsungTv on all devices and haven't missed a thing.

We were loyal long time customers, I had been for 15 yrs. Already had the dish and equipment- no customer acquisition costs. Only reason to not offer us a decent discount option to stay is because they want to ‘force’ people over to the streaming side of the business. I doubt many chose DTV for streaming. I am loving Paramount+ and free IMDB TV.

wonder how they are going to rig the numbers - I tell anybody to stay away from att products they only want to steal your money and don't care about their customers.

it’s a good gesture from both owners.

The owners feel otherwise.

Since the Stink kept most of the DTV debt, perhaps it is appropriate for T to also keep the discounts.

I was expecting to continue to receive the discount. T still owns the majority of the company, we help the number of subs, it’s a good gesture from both owners.

DTV will be sold again in 18 months. New owners are going to streamline operations (cuts)…. Welcome to Dish.

Why should not T employees keep the discount, T kept the DTV Debt!
