Thread regarding U.S. Bank layoffs

Mortgage supervisor

So it is true today at 10 am 3/29/22 I was layoff with 20 plus other employees. Last month US bank assured us this would not happen. Yes after a recorded breakdown Gn year from the pandemic 16-20 hour days they just laid us off and I believe it’s just the first wave since rates have now gone up. Shame o you US Bank.

It seems like many in the industry are dealing with this.
Try to take a deep breath & take things one day at a time. We will get through this.

I was laid off from US Bank in 2012 after almost 13 years. They moved our department of 14 to another state. Many on my team had been with the bank 25 yrs. We were also told many times that we wouldn’t lose our jobs. I heard from a friend in a different department 6 months later that the big shots were wondering where the revenue was that our department generated every month. 14 lives destroyed & they gave zero 💩’s. We were all over the age of 45 & many mid 50’s. I can say that none of us really recovered, finding a job mid life is tough. I used to be proud to work for USB until I saw1st hand how they treat employees. I’m sorry for those who have lost jobs for no fault of their own. Good Luck to you all!

I am a closer and was laid off as well on Tuesday after being told many, many times that this would not happen in my department. We also had a meeting the week before where our manager showed incredible irritation with us that anyone would even ask! I’ve actually never been spoken to by a manager we were spoken to that day. I should have known better! Now I am In a very bad position now and looking to start over once again.

If your USB manager ever assures you that your position is safe, don't believe a word of it. Your immediate manager does not make these decisions and will have no idea who is getting let go. Frontline managers are in the same boat as the workers. Decisions about who is let go are always made a few levels up, by the useless class of workers.

Only 35 or so were from Owensboro. The other 175 were from St Louis and around the country. Mainly remote positions. You are just a notch in their belt. No cares. Remember that !

I’m sorry to hear that. Several of my friends also got laid off today. Are you at the Owensboro location?
