Thread regarding Honeywell International Inc. layoffs

Remote work during COVID times nowadays

New hire (yet to sign the offer in hand,).
My question is: How is the split between office vs remove? is it allowed or common? Are employees allowed to work remotely or at least is there a hybrid type of work:
Job: Engineering/Research work (mechanical)

Excited to join, but I want to make sure there is enough flexibility.

Run don't walk away man. Place is hard core, sure it will make you the most Valuable MF'er in the market, but be prepared to give up almost everything to get there. Then struggle with PTSD for a few months. I know guys who have been on-call in HBT for over 4 years. Run man, just turn around and go somewhere else.

Thanks everyone. I was told there is a flexible and hybrid type of operation, and that what I should expect. It sounds that the only missing piece is that they did not tell me that at some point this will come to an end. Good to know by asking here. Thanks everyone. At least now I know what I am getting myself into and to not expect a forever lasting flexible/hybrid type of remote.

Thanks again everyone.

They used to allow it with manager approval a few years back. With the exception of covid, there is no work from home per the HR policy. We return to office end of Feb possibly with the 3/2 in office/from home schedule they attempted at the end of 2021.
Now mind you you might have 6:30am calls with overseas then another at 10pm and still be expected in the office for your 8hrs.

Honeywell is absolutely all about butts in chairs in cubes. All flexibility in work because of Covid will eventually end. It will be back to 100% in the office. No exceptions. Count on it.

Remote work will end sooner rather than later.
Take a look at the stock chart for Clorox.

They are a large, inflexible corporation. That’s why I am leaving for a full time remote work job.

A word of advice - do not trust or believe anything with them. Many employees used to have an arrangement to remote work - some even took the job based on that agreement - but one day HI just rescinded it all. All remote work agreements were ripped up and ppl had to go into the office every day.

So to answer your question, there is no flexibility and agreements with them mean nothing.

Op, since you find this site so useful, why haven't you scrolled down to find the answer? This topic has been discussed here many times and you're too lazy to look for it

But you're happy to join a company whose HR and recruiters you don't believe, with the most active layoff site on the internet. Yeah, you'll fit right in.

If you think HR and management is lying, (not misinformed) and you’re staying… that sounds kind a crazy….

Why are you questioning me for asking this on this website!? What’s wrong with asking this here!? This website is visiting by former and current employees and that’s why am asking the question here (I wanna hear the true story from current/former employees not HR)
if I ask recruiters or HR, they might lie or just share a flowery story.
It’s silly that you are questioning me for posting here!

Could be promised flexible and then they’ll turn on a dime and retract.

Why are you asking this on a layoff site? HW pays recruiters, HR, and the hiring managers to be able to answer that. What we tell you may not apply to your position, but the person who said as soon as Covid is past, it will be 100% in the office is correct. No flexibility.

In order to survive at HW you will need to learn to ask the right questions of the right people at the right time because no one is going to tell you anything if you don't ask, and you won't get any job-related training, just corporate policy training.

Just understand the history. Honeywell ceo cancelled all remote work suddenly and without notice one day. Told everyone that remote work was no longer permitted and fired anyone who could not adjust over the next six months to a year. This started a time of massive turnover as employees sought a workplace where they felt valued and safe.

Lesson.. Honeywell can not be trusted to honor even a written agreement. You have zero personal security in your job and could easily end up separated from your family in order to support them when Honeywell closes your building.

Example … ask our smaller vendors how often Honeywell is late paying them. Many companies won’t sell to Honeywell because they don’t get paid in a timely manner.

Once COVID is over it’s 100% in the office. Zero remote. Currently we are doing 2 days in office

And after 8-10 hours in office expect to do some Teams conference calls several times per week

If it’s your first job it’s ok, but start your search for a new job in 6-7 months

Layoff site is the best for placing these questions.
I'd suggest taking the next offer you get, rather than this one.
(Check to see if they also have a layoff site first, of course.)
