Thread regarding Dell Inc. layoffs

IBP payout date vs termination

I have an offer from a different company and willing to take it. Dell's IBP bonus payout date is March 25th. I do not want to miss out on Bonus (it is 25% for my level :) .. why miss it ??? ).

from HR link , "To earn Bonus payment, the member must be employed as of the payout date, except it is due t death". Does that mean my last day can be March 25th or do i need to resign on March 25th and add additional two weeks from that date? I don't know if the new company will wait that long but i can try to convince them. TIA

March 25th is in 4 days… that’s going to make a difference to your new employer? I call BS.

You clearly don’t need the bonus if you’re getting 25% and have a new job lined up unless you live way above your means. Su-k it up.

My understanding is that Dell’s IBP payment is based on your employment during the fiscal year for which it is being paid. Dell’s fiscal year runs from Feb 1 - Jan 31. As long as you were employed between Feb 1, 2024 and Jan 31, 2025 you should be paid a bonus. I’m not sure about having worked for only part of that time.

Why don't you simply say to your new company that you have to wait till end of march to get your bonus?
I am sure they can wait this time if they really want you to join them.

Play it on both sides right now is work from home so not to miss the oportunity and also not to miss the bonus timing is everything.

Take some vacation time, maybe some days off without pay or disability. Till after March 25. Take your new job but don't tell Dell you left, whos going to know anyway?

I know someone that gave their two week notice and they were told to pack their stuff, they were gone that day. You are not guaranteed two weeks, they may say your done that day.

Probably best to confirm that with HR.
What did is this year’s bonus modifier? I couldn’t take it any more so I accepted my offer before the payout details were announced.
