Thread regarding Optum layoffs

Not feeling helpless at all

It surprises me every time I see someone write that they feel helpless here because of the uncertainty. There is no reason at all to feel stuck in this company. There will always be layoffs, as there will always be other options as well. So why would anyone feel helpless here?

A colleague who thought he had no chance of getting a better offer got a new job in two or three months where he gets paid almost 30 percent more. Stress? There is no reason for so much stress.

We are team. We are a family that needs to work together to help meet the company's aims. We can do it. We are family. We are team. The 1% pay increase and candy really helped. Thanks USians.

How many of the teammates are working from home? Are they requiring you guys to come into the office?

Maybe open up your own business, but do NOT open in certain states that hate business but love illegals.

Turns out, working to make other people rich while you barely get by is pretty unpopular with people. Who would've thought?

do the bare minimum, tell the bosslady what they want to hear, smile alot, nod, clap, .apply elsewhere, then bail. if you work hard there you are a chump.

After a presentation boasting about the company's continuously improving success year after year after year, and blowing smoke up our butts about what a good job we were doing, the boss asked if anyone had any questions. A guy stood up and asked, "Since the company is making so much money, can I have a raise?" The boss literally looked around the large room and asked if anyone else had any questions, not even acknowledging what he asked.

So he left. Never to be heard from again. Awesome sauce.

Help yourself and get out. It is a breath of fresh air outside Optum. And the job market is red hot. Misery is optional in this scenario.

People hate change, I guess, or they start to listen to their "leaders" put them down so much that their sense of worth dies. I got out a few months ago and wish I'd started sooner. It's a great job market people!
