New to Chevron, what’s the typical PSG range from 20 - 25 and the approximate year of experience?

This pandemic has thrown fundamental economics and corporate pay practices out the window. The higher than expected CIP bonus seen just now will be followed by a lower than traditional salary adjustment come April 1. This will be the new way from now on. Corporations will budget the bonus amounts and lower the salary bumps from here on out. It’s easier for Chevron to control their biggest cost item and manage pay. In the end though, it’s only a tactic to make it easier to take money from the rank and file employee and give more to management and high potentials.
@qfm, PSG25 with 12 years experience, on average?? Maybe a future exec HIPO or specialized Upstream Petrotech PhD, but 12 years experience is PSG 23 give or take, on average.
Stop trolling. PSG bumps don’t come easy. You have to earn them.
With the enormous downward pressure on PSGs from all the reorganizations, very few folks are getting promotions these days. Probably over half of the workforce is at >100%CO. 1.5% corporate factor helps redirect focus from very low raises this year--remember they ask you to focus on total compensation.
PSG20 would be starting with no experience and PSG25 would be about 12 years experience, on average. But lots of exceptions. Some functions start at higher PSGs, some lower.
Ask your manager and/or HR Business Partner
Keep in mind most people do not retire from chevron at PSG 26 or above. Most new hires in the office are psg 19-20. So 5 psg moves for 25-30 years. Then realize the lower level moves happen faster and upper level moves happen slower. You can do the math
OP, you’re new to Chevron, so first concentrate on doing the job you were hired for, and doing it well. Later on you can start wondering about everyone else’s pay level.
Correlating approximate years of experience to PSG does depend on function, this is very different between IT/finance etc. vs. petrotechs
does NOT depend on the function or Business unit. Depends on the country. The CO=100 is the same $ wise if you are in the same country for any PSG. Some funtions may have higher PSG employees, but if you are same PSG, then same salary range (Within that country)
