My manager told me the Feb 15th return date is not voluntary. Anyone heard anything different?

Optional until it’s not, I suppose. Personally going to take as long as I need.
Pandemic is now endemic, go back to work in the office, whiny and lazy clods.
I got 2/15 RTW date also, boss said not optional.
Ubank will follow cdc guidelines
News flash: many states (ca and il) are removing mask and vaccine mandates for indoors so bank will prob follow suit
On a recent call was also told it's optional for now based on comfort level.
We were told if it says “may return” it was optional and that we will receive another email later. Some of our managers are having to go back they did not get the same “may return” email we did.
I was told by multiple levels on management that it’s currently optional
We were told the same thing by our direct manager… BUT, when upper management was asked on our all hands call yesterday “what does it mean that we are being invited back” his response was “it means exactly what it says”. Upper management and HR were being very cryptic when answering questions about the “invite”. Finally after repeatedly being asked for clarity, HR confirmed that it is optional for now, but STRONGLY encouraged to use that time to being to get acclimated with being back in the office.
I was told the same thing.
