CWA Contract 2023: What are the items the union wants to discuss?

Not bashing, just interested. As far as I know, at least the last several contracts were largely regarding discussion of health benefits and pension payout. Is 2023 different? I support anyone who wants or doesn't want to be union; if folks feel their union backing gets them better pay/benefits/conditions I'm all for it. I've been a 'manager' scab for the last two strikes and really enjoy the field trip, crazy pay, and very light schedule of something different than my daily mouse-pushing, so I'm hoping that while there's a Democrat in the WH the union will take a hard line. If they're going to, I think the current re-emergence of union members(across many industries who weren't formerly unionized) and feeling of strength in numbers should be the best hope to hold out for whatever is being (or not being) negotiated.

Useless VZ wireless will be sold to a real cellular company in T-Mobile. Get rid of all the useless VZW blow in the process. Win-win for all.

Could have sworn this was a layoff website and not company issues that have nothing to do with layoffs.

@plc lol your frustration with the troll on this site echoes mine.
Yeah, qkt has amazing insight.. the wires will just become clotheslines for all those in cities, eyesores for those in rural areas. Brilliant. Even if the end would come (let's hope, lol... We're all pretty much pension eligible now, let alone by 2023), there would have to be a contract written just so we could remove all the copper wiring from all over.. every state, city, town, neighborhood, house, and pole. If Verizon would have us remove it all and melt it down, they would make a fortune at the rate copper is fetching right now ... 😀 The troll wastes my time reading his unthinking, just rip the union 24/7 nonsense.

What do unioners bring to the table? What do they have that Verizon needs and can't get anywhere else? Nothing.

OK yeah you're right, VZ will be out of business by 2023, all of the infrastructure that interconnects amongst all carriers couldn't really ever be sold off as it's 120 yrs of copper, fiber, muxes, COs, etc. I'm sure it'll probably just rot away and some other carrier will replace it knowing that they'll never get a return on their investment, or the Govt will decide they should start being a federal public utility. Yep, makes sense....great insight.

Let's discuss what will happen. The end of wireline and the union in 2023. There is no profitable path forward for Verizon with old telco and union labor on their back. Hans knows it, the shareholders demand it. The end.

There are no sticking points until the company throws out their offer. This is a pointless discussion until then….bring this back up in 2023
