Thread regarding Cenovus Energy layoffs

Why would anyone want to go back to office?

I am amazed at how many people seem to be looking forward to returning to the office. I don’t miss that atmosphere at all and I have 101 reasons why. However, when I ask my colleagues why they want to go back there, the answer is pretty d-mb. Pretty much, "because we should".

Can someone who supports the RTO please give their reasons why they feel that way?

Productivity will plummet back in the office. Commuting, constant distraction in micro-cube world, people will start actually taking lunch and breaks. I anticipate a 30% drop in productivity!

I want to go back in because it's not fair currently. I've seen/heard that almost every team has at least one or two people who are pretty much doing NOTHING. Why should I work at home doing ALL the work while someone else is sitting on their patio all day doing nothing. At least at the office you know they have to do 'some' work.

Insecure management who need to have eyes on their staff to justify their existence

Staff who are not performers and need to BS and spin things in person to survive

Also, the good folks who just genuinely need the routine and get out of the house. I don't believe everyone is wired to WFH. Mental health is something our industry doesn't take seriously imo
