My impression is that it was akin to pump & dump. Why bother telling all of us schlubs that he's buying more F stock, repeatedly? All his trades in F stock are a matter of public record, by law, so that that would speak for itself and no need to tell us all in a company wide meeting.
And ultimately stock valuations are all about the perception of how a company is doing not if it's going in a good direction.
Yes, he makes a fortune on stock options, but he bought stock the old fashion way too. Right or wrong, he seems to think we're headed in the right direction.
