First class for Honeywell. They could have stuck you in the undercarriage of the plane. Where the landing gear is stored.
Make this as a suggestion and you might get promoted.
I was at an LED exhibition in China ~15 yrs ago, met an American rep from a company in selling LED billboards. The team was flying from Missouri or Kansas and flew economy to/from China. I commented ooof, that was rough. They were not so disappointed as the CEO of company also flew economy on those trips - Fair is Fair. Granted this company is nowhere near the size of HON, but at least the leadership is not asking for sacrifice from employee that they also are not making.
Policy allows you to fly Business Class. You do NOT have to fly this way. Say no. Here is your backbone.
@fpf
You've obviously never been strapped into a C130 for any period of time.
@szi - you obviously have never sat in an economy seat for 12+ hours. mo--n.
Wow. That is horrible! So much abuse! You should definitely call the abuse hotline! economy Class! that is for people that are beneath you!
Painful flight route plus Time zone difference definitely you will be a zombie next day and also flight back to US. Positive thought it is a beautiful country to go to. Best of luck
Some tips that may help.
If flying eastbound, try to get a Turkish air flight. All seats recline 140 degs even in coach, and there is a per hour hotel in the terminal in Istanbul. Get a 6 hour layover and check yourself in for a shower and nap.
If flying west bound, the best bet is Sinapore Air connecting in a California city. And keep the boarding pass. It will get you serious discounts at many tourist attractions.
Avoid United coach or economy plus at all costs.
But, if you can book economy plus, American has a near business class quality seat on most long haul planes now.
At UOP in PMT we used to fly business for anything over 6 hours. Business to London always. But that was when UOP valued employees. Honeyhell values $$$ not employees. I avoid travel any way I can. And always make the Indian employees come here.
Typically Honeywell. Squeeze every Penny for their shareholders, do not care about employees. Sbg presidents are only allowed to fly in the corporate jets.
I threw away my stack of safety briefing cards from more than 100 honeywell locations world wide recently.
Rules for travel:
- Never work the next day on long flights. Arrive with a down day. You control the day of travel. set your schedule and stick with it.
- ALWAY take the flights with the most travel legs. This advances you to platinum and diamond much faster. Of course this means ... CARRY ON LUGGAGE ONLY.
- It is critical to stick with one airline. loyalty programs matter.
- Keep the goal in sight. not gold, not platinum, you want the VIP invite only. Spend 50K per year for two years and you will be in. 10 5K tickets.. it isn't that hard.
- Finally -- most important rule -- if you want to stay married take your wife on at least one trip every quarter.
I did the US to China run at least once a month for two years. ( Arizona to Xian mostly)
I used routes that were cheap and looong at first. often flew through Europe instead of direct from LA or Seattle. This doesn't last long.. just do the time.
Careful planning eventually got me invites to both United global services and Delta 360.
The next two years were travel heaven. I LOVED IT.
I used the points to travel the world with my wife. botswana to new zealand.
sadly.. no more.
A350 finished. 919 finished. now there is the whole cold war thing.
Laid off in the 2019 cuts.
Still married.
When I was there, the policy was if any leg was 8+ hours, you could request to fly business, but it had to be approved by your respective SBG president first by sending an email to them. Go to the HON travel policy and confirm that’s still the case but that’s what it was late last year unless it’s changed since then.
Anyone band 3-4 travels first class. If your salary is 300k+ it is included
You must be band 2 HBT… I travel first class, Bangalore -Frankfurt- Atlanta
just fly the other way. problem solved.
