Thread regarding ExxonMobil Corp. layoffs

So long EMIT??

Rumor has it that EMIT will be entirely gone by end of 2023 and all IT will be outsourced. Seems this is BK’s way of screwing all of the hotshots that have already left.

Just because MSPing goes badly…has no effect of changing course.

We never change course no matter how bad a place we are headed.

@1jnq+1ffNdUqX by this point CX is a lost cause and I fully expect that to be 100% MSP in a few years. EMIT can’t even attract or retain people in historically desirable positions, let alone their worst possible jobs in CX.

I doubt this will happen. MSP transition of L1 and some L2 positions has gone badly and in many areas MSPs are struggling to cover even the L1 work decently. In CX, EMIT is hanging on by a thread, and Skype phase out, Zoom transition, Modern Client / Printing are hitting hurdles in even the "easy" use cases. EMIT experience seems super thin, and I think they will retain who they can a lot longer than they'd hoped to do.

Not all, but undoubtedly more will be sent to MSP

Only way this happens is if everyone quits by then. At the pace that the business makes decisions, it would take them 20 years to move EMIT to service providers. The business has forced EMIT to build a shittily complex system which makes it hard to handover, especially quick. Also I’d be surprised if this was true, given this has been a rumor since the early 2000s. But yea anyone with talent in EMIT should leave ASAP, especially if you’re in the US since it is planned for the US to eventually be just L2 and higher type of positions, a few very small specialty areas, and nothing much else.

Hello, im an IT worker here. I just want to say BK is our supreme leader and I respect him so much. He single handedly has done so much for our organization. Just imagine where we would be if BK wasnt at the helm. Just imagine it for a second. BK may not be god, and sure, granted he hasnt written a single line of code in his life, but this is THE CHOSEN LEADER our LT has chosen to lead us. I trust our LT made the right choice and it shows! God bless BK and his technical prowess!!

EMIT people, please leave now before you’re forced out. Leaving on your terms with a job already lined up beats being dumped into the unemployment line. BK only cares about himself and will destroy you if you let him. Get out now before BK implodes the entire organization

To EMIT folks, the market is hot. Jump from this sinking ship to another stable and growing ship. It is way easier to find a job while you are still employed than trying to find a job while unemployed, gets a bit challenging with other life stressors. I know some of you remaining ones don't care about us let go. But this is the advice I share with you all in good faith after being laid off in 2020.

I left XOM about a year ago. What's the hotshot comment? Please don't tell me a "leader" had the audacity to call employees hotshots if they were planning or thinking about leaving??

Yes, all hotshots will be gone, unfortunately.
I cannot believe this decision is made by EMIT VP who has no experience in IT at all (just look his work history in CareerConnect and you will see).
