Thread regarding Ford layoffs

People are talking about 2 fords - no one ever said anything when agency had 35% pay cut from march 2020 to July 2021!

Hypocrisy people. Hypocrisy.

Ford has exploited H1B visa employees the most. GM started hiring people with H1B full time and only after that Ford started doing H1B. Every contract H1B these days is being offered direct role when they walk in with offer. Ford has lost it’s way and it’s no more Henry Ford’s Ford. We all know what HF did for his employees, their wages. Ford has a big burden of some lifers that don’t even walk one floor to organize meetings - they organize meetings next door and ask everyone to come there. Unfortunately most of such lifers are Supervisors. Again some, not all. There will be lawsuit one day. The higher the share price go - more likelihood of lawsuits. My manager convinced two other managers to find someone else when these two wanted to hire me. Ford is a morgue like Elon said.

The unfortunate reality like others have noted. Agency and Purchase Services are not Ford employees. You work for another company that has essentially rented you out to Ford. The problem is that Ford exploits this work category and has these people working long term in positions that should be direct. The result is that the people begin to personally identify themselves as a part of the company since they have been at Ford many years. This really should not be happening. There should be time limits and also Ford should not abuse the roles where an Agency person is working alongside a Ford person doing the exact same job. Their roles really should be clearly framed and doing work that is eligible only to be done by Agency or PS.

Ford has the lead the way in exploiting Agency & Purchase service. And the worst are the ones on visa. Ford did not let such employees transfer internally to learn something new even after spending 5+ years in the same position. Ford dept Managers were actively blocking & colluding to keep these folks in same position. They did not want to “lose a head” since agency were a head same as Ford employee. They did not give them enough raise. On the contrary - FCGs climbed up so easily. Talent isn’t a priority at Ford. Direct/contract status is.

Sorry if the truth hurts, but what others write below is true - agency are not Ford employees, so they cannot be treated the same by policy and in many cases by the law of the country you work in.

Do agency get the raw end of the deals - sure, sometimes. I've also known agency to stay agency even after local Ford management wanted to convert them, simply because they would have taken a pay cut during the conversion. Also, agency work by the hour, whereas Ford salary work until the work is done. Sometimes that means we have very little work to do, that is true.....and sometimes that means working nights and weekends up to months at a time.

If you are agency and feel ripped off by Ford, you can always go somewhere else, or better yet hire into Ford (or somewhere else) directly, there is literally nothing stopping you. Same thing I tell blue badge Ford employees....if you don't like it, feel free to go elsewhere. Truth is agency or Ford employee, most of us have very little control over what happens, so I don't spend too much time worrying about fairness anymore, because my name is not on any buildings in Dearborn or Allen Park.

@ipi+1fi8HUQQ Wow! Yes, the poor Ford employees kept the same salaries and benefits for several months more. During the same time, the salaries of Agencies were slashed 35%. No comparison.

@ext+1fi8HUQQ So maybe next time some blue badge needs my help, should I redirect him/her your way? After all, I am no part of the Ford family, right?

@fbd+1fi8HUQQ I also know Ford employees that earn their money, whatever their salaries are, without doing anything, while I am working my a-s off. It seems a better deal, but requires a blue badge. Besides, blue badges get better benefits, vacations, paid holidays and some of you still get pension. Green badges only get their salaries, and anything else is deducted from the salary. There is not much difference at the end, and whatever the difference, Ford employees get ahead.

As the OP said, the employees didn't care when suppliers, agencies and retired people were affected by FMC. Now you all look like ants when somebody peed in the anthill.

First they came for the socialists, and I did not speak out—
Because I was not a socialist.

Then they came for the trade unionists, and I did not speak out—
Because I was not a trade unionist.

Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out—
Because I was not a Jew.

Then they came for me—and there was no one left to speak for me.
