Just wondering if anyone has started going to the offices after they have been invited to return. Would be nice to see what people have to say

By the sound of you, I doubt many people will visit you in ICU.
I've been in a few times since December. It was fine. Very quiet. Nice change of pace. It felt very normal. There is lots of open seating space in my building in uptown CLT. I dont think seating will be an issue in that location.
Looking for a spot to po-p mid morning is the worst...
No chance I'd voluntarily return. Who needs to try it on for size? Close your eyes for a minute and imagine yourself working off your laptop at a desk. Bo-m...thats what it it'll be like. Then envision having to hold in that fl-------e that you so liberally dispel all over your home office today. Your desk hostel mates won't want to smell that. And when the pressure of that emergency coffee chit comes out of nowhere, you will get to quench your cheeks and hustle around stalking the place for an open stall in bathrooms full of other coffee chitters, hopefully not missing your next conf call.

Same here. No concerts, church, restaurants, theaters, or public events at all. I spend time with those in my bubble and that's it. All shopping is done pickup/delivery, and not in store. Most of my family and friends do it as well. Most of my family works in finance in some form of another and I am the only one having to RTO. The companies they work for have gone to 100% WFH from home instead and have sold off their real estate or at least postponed office work through the end of 2022.
I don't care if I never get to see a movie in a theater, or a concert, or in person events ever again. It's no longer a priority. Keeping my (too young to be vaccinated) kids virus free and the rest of my family safe is the most important thing for me each day.

Sounds like you and sophisticates you run with are horrible at statistical analysis and risk management. Stay home for the rest of your lives for all I care. Just stop whining to the rest of us.

Maybe the faux news believers, but no one I know is doing any of this, especially eating in restaurants (are you crazy?) and never to the store without a mask.
But then again, the people I know are educated and/or have common sense.
Well, it’s expected to be nice and quiet when you are going while no one is there, but everyone is there and it is no longer quiet or empty, and those with long loud calls screaming in your ears, it will a different story and not as nice as it may seem now :)
I’ve been in some, and usually only see 2-3 others on the entire floor. Very nice for a change of scenery and a quiet place to work. Would never want to go back to 5 days/week, but a couple days isn’t the doomsday scenario some of you all make it out to be
Yes went to office in Socal and they redid all the workstations, new monitors, cube and office room are no longer assigned, you just pick any open one. As of now the floor i goto have 100+ seats but only 7-8 people are showing up voluntarily, its quite and few like 1 or 2 are wearing masks as well. Overall If you need to focus, office is the right place to be.
When in and few people were seen. Found a dusty workstation and the usual messy restrooms. Really no change form before the pandemic.
This is OP here, so those of you that chose to work from the office, what were your reasons?
FYI - the unvaccinated are ineligible for early return. What are you all afraid of again?
I know a couple of folks that have gone back and it is a crazy mess with what they did to the floor, lol.
I’m not saying I want to go, but these are the terms of employment, and probably 40% of the company never stopped going in. If you want to stay home and test their resolve for yourself, go for it, but I don’t get the “scabs” mentality. We are not unionized, and likely never will be, and even if we were, I can’t imagine this would be high up on the bargaining list.
No one show up, and they will know they can't afford to fire everyone.
Only scabs will return.
