IBM has no unique hot products to sell anymore. Strategic sc--w ups over the past 20 years have crippled the company. Somebody please tell me what IBM product is hot in the marketplace??? IBM lost it's mindshare years ago to Bill Gates and others. Never recovered. Consulting services are a dime a dozen in the marketplace. Used to be IBM consulting services were valuable when the company dominated every Fortune 500 I.T. department. Those days are long gone.
You say GBS is being dressed up. I say IBM is divorcing everything non-GBS. It’s the old make the numerator bigger or make the denominator smaller. IBM will divorce all things not GBS and SW. let’s take a peek See any innovation coming out of Infrastructure? NOPE Maybe they’ll dress up Z to do better with LINUX. How about any innovation coming out of SW? Again NOPE except to have Redhat replace all IBM Legacy or partner with a SW house to have all Redhat replace the legacy. Finally how do you innovate consulting? Buy younger, more industry specific, consultants. So will IBM sell or spin GBS? NOPE They will cut the legacy / more expensive parts of enterprise to get the old girl down to size.
GBS is being dressed up for a sale/spin. As a GBSer this is very positive. Can't wait to be free of the bloat and bureaucracy.
Not going to lie, I LOVE this acquisition.
Massively sizing up around Azure data and cloud services which is where so much of the market is going. Our clients should be over the moon we can actually scale services around a cloud platform that they’re actually buying.
