Guyana, Guyana, Guyana…..did they mention Guyana?

Funny to see them go full throttle on a corporate level and individual employee level talking about Guyana on LINKEDIN. Is it a good thing? Sure. Is it the only good thing going on? Sure. Funny to watch all the people claw to take credit for something contract companies and JV partners ultimately facilitated.

On the bright side, saw Porsches were at the campus this week on display and I’m sure with record quarterly profits and 300k+ bbl a day coming from Guyana, the pay increases and cash bonuses are going to be huge for all employees! Especially once the $25B in assets for sale create cash and more headcount reductions!

Don't forget, Guyana was really lucky hit. Exploration was told to go drill out an obligation cheap (concession was signed as a response to the Tullow strike nearby but was definitely not a priority). If no shows on the first well, pack it in, due to technical issues, the second well was drilled first and we had a strong show, the first well was drilled next and it was dry.....

ENI and RDS are not inferior explorers. Much better track record in frontier basins and GOM than EMEC.

Sometimes I feel like Guyana is used to mask all our failures in Exploration (which is basically the rest of the portfolio). Let’s be honest - what have we found since the Stabroek trend? Nothing substantial. Failure after failure in Brazil, non-comm discovery in Australia, dry holes in Atl Canada. We also basically gave up on the entire GOM, allowing inferior explorers like RDS to exploit the prolific US Perdido trend. Not to mention totally missing the boat on multiple West Africa ventures (Ivory Coast, Namibia) - again to bottom-dwellers like ENI, QP, and RDS. Embarrassing

Over and under on whether they’ll flare like crazy again?
What about whether they’ll get production to the rate planned?
More importantly, what about when will they run into gas reinjection issues?

The only items that really matter on LinkedIn are, "What is our stock price today?" and "What is our Annual Return on Investment (ROI)? and Return on Capital Employed (ROCE)? when we publish our 2021 Annual Report at the Investors Meeting later this year.

A "drone" war could break out between Guyana and Venezuela tomorrow over our offshore assets and our Guyana cash cow would require the US Navy to intervene.
