Thread regarding Citigroup Inc. / Citibank / Citi layoffs

I deserve respect

I don't expect the company to care about me, I don't live in a delusion that we're all "one big, happy family." What I do expect is to be treated with respect. To be paid adequately for the work I provide and to be treated like a human being by my superiors. Being expected to do two jobs for the pay of one and being yelled at by my manager when something isn't done on time is the opposite of that. This is why so many people are quitting. We don't expect a lot but even that is too much for Citi.

If Citi wanted to truly combat high attrition they could do so by not giving out overwhelming amount of work and fostering abusive managers.

Yea unfortunately it seems to be the norm. Managers always yelling saying you are insubordinate if you defend yourself or reply to their rants blah blah. Sometimes I feel like my managers child. Theres no leadership at Citi. To many managers left to do as they please and god forbid you say something you’re docked as a problematic person. Best advice is get Citi on your resume, stay 1 - 2 years then go somewhere else with more pay wash and repeat. We live in a different world. Loyalty and longevity are a thing of the past. Just worry about yourself and represent your own brand.

I agree you do deserve respect. Far more than what you’ve been given. If you don’t like your world, then change your world. The solution for employee resignation is better management but you’ll not get that at Citi. I’m fortunate to have a good manager but I see so many other managers leaving a path of destruction wherever they go. Obviously this culture is embraced by the upper echelon. You can read from other posters and see that the focus is anything but a nurturing work environment. It’s more of a indentured servitude. The job market is hot. Do yourself a favor and start interviewing for a job outside of the company. Leave it all behind you and don’t look back.
