IT Career Day

This should be a short day. I cannot imagine what they can talk about all day, since the technical career track is so limited. I can see a future is someone is in BA or India, but there's nothing for the XOM Houston folks as long as the Fake PIPs continue.

IT career day in what our mgmt. calls a cyclical and a commodity business. Never heard ever a company in this kind of business holding an IT Career day. BK and his cronies like the IT Executive on LinkedIn are really trying (or not trying) to stop bleeding, but unfortunately their own way that per today's standards won't work. The employees really are pitiful that even after all sh-t mgmt. pooped on employees, employees continue to allow mgmt. to sh-t and po-p more and more. I guess every one is after perceived best job at XOM and don't care if they are emotionally, mentally, and psychologically ra--d by their mgmt. everyday. In that case, employees shouldn't complain and keep getting ra--d or quit.

Lots of people in the forums touting their long (20+ years) in XOM. Is that really something to be proud of? No "worldly" experience and only know XOM's way of doing things?

My message to those long termers or "lifers" is to realize there are many other ways to do things and often XOM's way is not the most efficient or the most productive.

Wow! BK and the EMIT mgmt. has such an audacity to host IT Career day after letting people go during lay offs, PIPs, and leaving voluntarily? And even after all of that there is no real and genuine effort to stop the bleeding of those that are leaving. This organization if so fake and the mgmt. has proven the fakeness over and over and now don't even care and continue read from their story books. Why? Because they know that the employees have also got used to and know that they are being lied to and are okay with it for $$$. The IT executive and job family leads are making this so loudly know on LI as if EMIT and XOM are the best organizations for IT pros.

To potential IT candidates, please DO NOT fall for XOM or your long term career will be ruined.

They should have EMIT India career day, EMIT KL career day, EMIT Budapest career day... preface each speech with "The key is you stay cheaper than the other lower cost locations, otherwise your job is moving there. It is a race to the bottom. We talk about developing your skills and experience but in all honesty, you exist on payroll because you are cheap. what truly matters is only your low cost."

don't believe the managers who tell you otherwise, look what they did to the experienced folks in Australia, Houston, Singapore and Western Europe. so many career stage 3 & 4 folks were laid off.

that is why management lost credibility and our trust completely. they spend an insane amount of time telling us about career development. sometimes they sound so concern and caring I feel sad that they are wasting their time on this bs koolaid, but then I remember they are paid a lot of $ to say and do all these. all their actions point to replacing higher cost folks with lower cost ones. and this is not an EMIT problem it's a XOM-wide problem.

they don't get why we think they are hypocrites, they don't listen, they keep saying they don't understand the attrition, and get frustrated with us not understanding the opportunities available. and they always say, "we've had to make some tough decisions" but never acknowledged the impact of their decisions or tell us what practical policy changes are made to regain our trust. because well, there is, in truth, no practical policy changes being made.

that said, i appreciate Bill. I come from a high cost location and from Day 1 since he was VP, he had never lied that folks from high cost locations are going to have good careers. He made it quite clear in employee forums, that cost cutting, MSP, moving jobs to lower cost places is the way to go. This was way back in 2019 or 18 when the company was profitable.

I really cannot believe anything these guys have to say until they back it up with some actions. They have shown they have not been trying to develop their employees over the last year or so. They are trying to lower head counts and get rid of higher paid employees.
