Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

Decided not going to RTO

That's it. I'm the only person on my team in my time zone and driving into an office 3 days a week to sit in an uncomfortable cubicle all by myself is inane. I'm not sure how long it will take for this to become an issue but I'm in a comfortable enough financial position that being fired would be no big deal. Godspeed to the rest of you.

I'm right with you, OP.

I was hired as Full Time Remote, with the understanding that WFH was a benefit that compensated for the low pay.

Then WF tears up everyone's Telecommuting Agreements.

I'm 70 miles from the office they want me to "return" to, and it's on the other side of one of the largest cities in the nation. Easily a 3 hour commute one-way. Plus $40 to park. To add insult to injury, there's nobody else in my entire group within 500 miles.

Am "retirement eligible", and have saved and invested well. My BS bucket runneth over........

CIB Financial Crimes (175 people, or close) just got a permanent WFH exception. Don’t know any details but that’s what we were told.

We’re told it’s because of camaraderie, but how the heck you going to meet people if your desk changes every day?

This is about attrition, plain and simple.

@eew+1fl9GjIM - I’m not the OP, but it’s not bu-----t that many of us will not be going back in just because some dictatorial a-s in NYC says we should. I’m not wasting my personal time commuting and breathing air in an overcrowded office in the false name of collaboration and innovation. I’d rather be fired than be treated like a child.

Congratulations!!!! I wish I could but for now I will need to continue to be paid for working 2080 hours in the year while I actually, generally work- maybe 900 hours. It's torture ... but at least I am getting paid.
FYI... you can dislike this comment but I don't care cuz I'm getting paid to hate this place AND binge watch all kinds of stupid stuff!

Our office was relocated closer to my home, but since it is not a hub, technology teams are not permitted to use the facility.

They subtracted the Tech head count to arrive at the total hotel desks.

Closest HUB is over 1.5 hours away.

I'm currently listed as remote, and I just told my manager that if I'm forced to RTO to the closest office, which is more than an hour away one way, I'd be requesting a package. Quality of life is important. If it were all mass transit, that'd be one thing, but no -- it's all highway.

Keep us posted! Good luck - hopefully they realize quickly this is a mistake.

Mostly the same boat.
I'm okay with going back but they closed my office during WFH and want me to drive an hour to the new location where I have zero teammembers to interact with.

I’m with you and will not be going in. If they want to fire me, so be it!

My teammate has to drive 1 hour each way and pay $20 a day for parking. He use to walk to work pre-pandemic. Tell me you don't care about your employees without telling me you don't care about your employees.

Check the Severance Package details. You might qualify for a severance package also.
