@4bzi, LMAO, you GTFOH! Nobody on this thread is saying they moved. Their WORK LOCATIONS were moved. I have two people on my team who’ve lived in the same homes for years pre-pandemic. Both were assigned to new work locations which will require significantly longer commutes. ZERO benefit to anyone as our team is distributed across the US and they don’t work with anyone in their respective cities.

If you are in Corporate Risk, I would believe they would be denied. All of ours are that I have heard of. And I only have one co-worked in the same state. Guess who is in a different building than me? SOOO FREAKING STUPID!
Our group doesn’t have these restrictions. Managers just need to check with the site coordinator and then can make the changes in Workday, no approvals needed.

Because if your job doesn't require you to work in multiple locations, you are only allowed to work at the location you're assigned to. I can't roll up to any WF building and expect they will have a spot for me, just like I can't claim any site as my work site.

I can understand the situation you described if that location has assigned seating. If there’s not a cube to assign, you have to wait for one to be available.
But for locations with flex seating, why do you need the approvals for 4 levels or whatever in order for your manager to change your location? It sounds like there are extra seats built in with flex seating so I’m not understanding why one would have to get a gazillion approvals. Thanks for any insight!
My team of 10 used to sit in the 600 building in Mpls Downtown East pre-covid. Now 1 person is in one building, 1 is in another building, 3 are in Home Mortgage campus, and 5 are still in 600 building. None of the ones moved to new buildings are closer to their home nor happy about the change. Who is making these stupid ar-e decisions? Our LOB submitted location change requests, but from the sounds of this thread we won’t hold our breath.

Because it still has to be approved several levels up? Your boss doesn't decide where you sit and they can't go changing stuff on a whim without repercussions. My boss is 4 down and we had to fight to get me a desk in the building I'm supposed to be in and the building he wanted me to sit in, since that is where the rest of my team sits - because they had no exceptions at the location I was assigned. Took 6 months and a few layoffs in other units before I was finally given a spot a couple of weeks ago.
Why can’t your boss just simply change your location in Work Day? What is the issue?
Basically the the request does not align with their location strategy and you are to report to your assigned office.
D-mbasses didn’t even review the requests is my guess. Or actually, they just don’t give a sh-t about impacts to employees, their families, their personal time, etc. Sc--w them.
And don’t get me started on the double taxation they are doing in NC/SC. Total BS!
