I'm in agreement, but this is much bigger than a Nike culture issue. Thousands of companies are figuring out how to adapt to the new way of life post-covid. There are so many factors involved, including technology, the way we work and communicate, company culture, financial/tax incentive considerations(very specific factor for Nike).
I am part of the remote work pilot due to the specialty of my role. I am NOT easily replaced. There are only 1000 people in the world that can do what I do for Nike. Consider that factor as well and diversify your skillset. Make yourselves indispensable. As the remote work pilot expands(it will), that is a primary factor being considered when HR is determining which roles to include.
It will take time for large organizations like Nike to realize times have changed and change the direction of the ship to align with the new needs of today's workforce. I would encourage you to have patience with Nike, but if you are able to find a remote role you like elsewhere, definitely go for it.
Times have changed. It's up to Nike to prevent the loss of talent from their ranks and it's up to the employees to leave if they don't. I would have been gone already if I wasn't remote and wish you all the best in finding what works best for you and your family's needs.
